Taylor Swift shares she learned ‘important lesson’ from Kim Kardashian episode

TwitterFacebook

Taylor Swift may have made amends with Katy Perry, but the beef with Kim Kardashian still stings.

At the first show of her Reputation tour, Swift spoke about Kardashian – without naming her – and about what she learned from being branded a snake.

“A couple of years ago, someone called me a snake on social media and it caught on,” Swift said. “And then a lot of people called me a lot of names on social media… I guess the snakes, I wanted to send a message to you guys that if someone uses name calling to bully you on social media and even if a lot of people jump on board with it, that doesn’t have to defeat you. It can strengthen you instead.” Read more…

Every single alcohol reference in Taylor Swift’s albums in 1 gorgeous graph

TwitterFacebook

Anyone who’s ever listened to Taylor Swift’s “Reputation” will know that our gal has recently discovered partying.

Data-loving Redditer waitingforgoodoh decided to plot all the alcohol references in each and every one of Taylor Swift’s albums. And, the results are quite something.

It seems Swift made her first references to alcohol (with the words “bar” and “drunk”) in “Speak Now,” her third album. “Red,” meanwhile contained zero references to booze. “1989” contained two  (“wine” and “drunk”).

But, “Reputation” is where things really get interesting. Per the Reddit graph—which was made using plotting system ggplot2—Swift makes a whopping 13 references to alcohol. Read more…

Taylor Swift makes surprise appearance at the cafe where she was discovered

TwitterFacebook

Taylor Swift is getting back to her roots — for, uh, one night only.

The singer made a surprise appearance at Bluebeard Cafe in Nashville, Tenn. — the cafe where she was broke out as a star — on Saturday night. Fans in the crowd and on the internet soaked up all the ’00s nostalgia they could.

Horrifically branded though they may be, celebrity guest appearances have a special dumb magic that works on us every time.

T Swift performed some of her earliest hits including, “Shake It Off,” “Better Man,” and “Love Story.” About 40 people were estimated to be in the audience. Read more…

Why does the gun control issue feel different after Parkland? Just look at Taylor Swift.

TwitterFacebook

As far as political statements go, Taylor Swift’s March for Our Lives words weren’t anything terribly dramatic.

The singer started her Instagram post with the common-sense statement that “No one should have to go to school in fear of gun violence,” and ended with an announcement that she’s made a donation in support of the movement. It’s nothing we haven’t seen from dozens, if not hundreds, of other celebrities already

But it is something rare coming from this particular celebrity.

Taylor Swift finally takes a stand and donates to March for our Lives

TwitterFacebook

Taylor Swift has always been the Ken Bone of music. In that she’s resistant to taking any kind of political stand, not that she’s been found to be a milkshake duck

On Friday, T Swift shifted majorly out of character and announced that she would be making a donation to March for Our Lives, the student led protest movement advocating for greater gun control.

“No one should have to go to school in fear of gun violence,” Swift wrote on Instagram. “I’ve made a donation to show my support for the students, for the March For Our Lives campaign, for everyone affected by these tragedies, and to support gun reform. I’m so moved by the Parkland High School students, faculty, by all families and friends of victims who have spoken out, trying to prevent this from happening again.” Read more…

Teen’s message to mom who starred in Taylor Swift’s new music video will make you cry

TwitterFacebook

Moms are the freaking best and do not receive nearly enough praise for all the good they do in this world. Oddly, it took Taylor Swift’s new music video for “Delicate” to remind me of this fact.

After Swift’s music video premiered during the iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 11, 17-year-old Megumi Cheng tweeted a heartwarming message of praise to her mother, Junko Cheng, who made a cameo in the video.

“This is my mom. She’s 57 and felt like pursuing acting recently… mostly for shits and giggles, but here she is. So beautiful,” Cheng’s teenage daughter tweeted alongside three still shots of her from the music video. Read more…

Taylor Swift’s ‘Delicate’ music video has a secret message

TwitterFacebook

“Look What You Made Me Do” may have kicked off Taylor Swift’s reputation era in headlines, mood setting and score settling, but it was Sunday night’s release of the music video for Taylor Swift’s “Delicate” that will ultimately be looked at as the definitive visual representation of this point in Swift’s career.

It’s the celluloid moment that best matches the takeaway lyrics of reputation, centering on a woman who has been through the celebrity ringer (with the battle scars and Twitter hashtags to prove it), shed a few layers, built a few protective walls and became a more private, yet happier, person.  Read more…

Taylor Swift expertly trolls Ed Sheeran about his height in Instagram video

TwitterFacebook

When he’s hanging out with Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran has apparently perfected a clever technique: “peacocking”.

Swift presented incontrovertible evidence of this phenomenon — which apparently consists of elevating oneself to seem more important than the other person — in the form of an Instagram video on Thursday:
