Taylor Swift credited with surge in voter registrations

TwitterFacebook

With the midterm elections just four weeks away, voter registrations are surging — and it might be, at least in part, due to pop superstar Taylor Swift.

Kamari Guthrie, Director of Communications for Vote.org, told BuzzFeed the site had collected 65,000 new voter registrations within the 24 hours following Swift’s Sunday night Instagram post in which she blasted Tennessee Republican Marsha Blackburn and endorsed her Democratic opponent, Phil Bredesen, in the Tennessee Senate race.

Per Guthrie, that’s more voters than the site registered in all of August (56,669) and a third of those registered in September (190,178). Read more…

Taylor Swift breaks political silence, backs Democrats in midterm race

TwitterFacebook

Taylor Swift has long shied away from politics, a silence which has led to intense criticism from both sides of politics.

But on Sunday night, the pop monarch at last voiced her political stance on the upcoming midterm elections on Nov. 6.

Swift, who’ll be voting in the state of Tennessee, actively voiced her concerns for Republican Marsha Blackburn, and backed Democrats Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper.

“In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now,” Swift captioned her post. Read more…

Taylor Swift brought out Tim McGraw to sing ‘Tim McGraw’ and people lost it

TwitterFacebook

When you think Tim McGraw, you probably think Taylor Swift too.

Her first single, “Tim McGraw,” had a big moment on Saturday night thanks to a special appearance by McGraw himself, along with Faith Hill. The country music power couple joined Swift in Nashville — where it all began for her — and fans went absolutely nuts.

Swift sang the first half of the love song with Hill, before introducing “the actual Tim McGraw” to finish it off in front of the sold out crowd.

Swift first wrote the song in high school, and since then has performed other material with McGraw and Hill over the years as her career has taken off. She even opened for the couple on tour in 2007, which made this Nashville moment a special one.  Read more…

Taylor Swift makes emotional speech on 1-year anniversary of sexual assault lawsuit win

TwitterFacebook

A year after Taylor Swift’s groping trial, the singer is still speaking out.

In an emotional speech given during her show in Tampa, Florida on Tuesday, Swift sat on a piano bench and reflected on her rollercoaster of a year — which included the 2017 lawsuit she won against radio host David Mueller after he groped her during a meet-and-greet in 2013.

“A year ago I was not playing in a stadium in Tampa. I was in a court room in Denver, Colorado,” she began, “and honestly I was there for a sexual assault case and this day a year ago was the day that the jury sided in my favor and said that they believe in me.”  Read more…

TwitterFacebook

Hello, Song Of The Summer Committee? We know it’s late in the season but have you heard this freaking Taylor Swift and Bryan Adams duet? Because it honestly might be a game changer.

In a ~Summer of 2018~ miracle, Swift brought the Canadian singer on stage in Toronto to tag team his 1984 jam, “Summer of ’69.” It was magical, to say the least, and according to Swift she was “losing it” as much as everyone else.

“I didn’t even know Bryan was gonna be in town until last night and I asked him completely last minute if he wanted to come sing!! Pretty evident from the videos (um yes I’m posting another one) that I’m FULLY LOSING IT with excitement, and I can’t thank @bryanadams enough ✨⭐️💫” Swift captioned a glorious Instagram video of the performance. Taylor Swift donated hundreds of concert tickets to a police department in mourning

TwitterFacebook

Taylor Swift is trying to do her part to ease the grief of a Massachusetts town mourning a recently fallen police officer.

The Patriot Ledger reported that the pop star donated hundreds of complimentary tickets to Weymouth, Mass. for her Foxborough concert on Thursday, which is part of her Reputation Tour.

Swift gave the tickets in response to the death of Weymouth’s Sgt. Michael Chesna, who was killed earlier this month while responding to a car crash. The suspect is also believed to be responsible for killing bystander Vera Adams.

There’s a ‘Deadpool 2’ Taylor Swift Easter egg you definitely missed in the trailer

TwitterFacebook

Only the biggest Taylor Swift fans would’ve caught this joke in the Deadpool 2 trailer.

Some sharp-eyed individuals noticed that the Deadpool 2 trailer includes a deep-cut reference to Taylor Swift, as pointed out by Cinema Blend. It happens at the 1:27 mark in the trailer, as Deadpool is spinning around in Professor Xavier’s chair:

Even given that much help, you still might miss the reference. It’s on screen for less than a second:

The joke is Deapool’s T shirt, which has a picture of two cats on it and with the names Olivia and Meredith over them — the names of Swift’s cats. Read more…
