Helena Bonham Carter is reportedly the new Princess Margaret in ‘The Crown’ Season 3

Netflix’s The Crown is about to get a new princess.

Months after Olivia Colman was crowned the new Queen Elizabeth II for Season 3, Variety reports Helena Bonham Carter has been tapped for the role of Princess Margaret. 

The Evening Standard first broke the news.

The first two seasons of The Crown starred Claire Foy as Elizabeth II, Vanessa Kirby as Margaret, and Matt Smith as Prince Philip. However, showrunner Peter Morgan always planned to recast about every two seasons, to keep up with the characters as they aged.

Season 3 promises to be a big one for Margaret. Robert Lacey, the show’s history consultant, has said that the next run of episodes will take place in the 1970s – which means that, among other things, it’ll chronicle “the breakup of this extraordinary marriage between Margaret and Snowdon.” Read more…

When you’re organising a red carpet for a big TV show, it’s crucial to have as many important guests as possible.

Whoever made arrangements for the London’s premiere of Netflix’s The Crown on Tuesday clearly knew this rule well.

Claire Foy was there. Gillian Anderson was there. Matt Smith was there.

Oh, and a couple of hairy surprise guests who totally stole everybody else’s thunder.
