The Leslie Jones-Kyle Mooney love match on ‘SNL’ takes a violent turn

TwitterFacebook

The sweet love story of Saturday Night Live cast members Leslie Jones and Kyle Mooney has been chronicled in detail on the weekly series. We were there when the two met and formed a connection, and we were there months later when their relationship was tested.

Now, the focus shifts to Mooney’s college pal and fellow cast member Beck Bennett. Beck is distraught over the rift that’s formed between him and his old friend, so he seeks out help from someone who also wants to get between Kyle and Leslie: Colin Jost.

Their plan plays out at the annual SNL masquerade ball — which is totally a thing, sure — but it doesn’t quite work out the way they imagined. The sketch ends with an emotional showdown, and a joke that was totally stolen from the ’80s comedy, Airplane!. Read more…

Tiffany Haddish crushed her hilarious ‘SNL’ monologue, and she made history in the process

TwitterFacebook

Saturday Night Live guest host Tiffany Haddish kicked off her evening with an uproarious opening monologue that touched on the news of the day (Trump and other awful men), her wardrobe (she’s very passionate about her Alexander McQueen dress), and her hit summer 2017 comedy, Girls Trip.

Less funny was the context around her hosting gig.

This Saturday, 11/11 on #SNL!! Can you believe I will be the very #first black female comedian… https://t.co/qSVgrCpztv

“Can you believe I will be the very #first black female comedian host?!?”

Technically, Maya Rudolph — also a comic — beat Haddish to the punch here when she hosted in 2012, but Rudolph is also a former cast member. Even cutting out the “comedian” part of that equation, we’re left with a very small list across more than 830 episodes. Read more…

‘Stranger Things’ fans crashed a museum’s website trying to buy Dustin’s sweatshirt

TwitterFacebook

If you know just one Stranger Things fan, then you won’t be surprised to hear that thousands of them crashed a science museum’s website in an attempt to buy replicas of a sweatshirt worn by Gaten Matarazzo on the show.

Per a report from Newsweek, folks at the Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul were delighted to see Matarazzo’s character Dustin donning a sweatshirt featuring one of the museum’s vintage merchandise designs – a print of a Brontosaurus skeleton. “Yes, we want one too,” a museum representative wrote in a Facebook post from October 27. “Working on it!”

TV reporter doesn’t take any crap from random stranger hurling abuse at her

TwitterFacebook

Why are people so unkind?

Maggie Raworth, a journalist with 9 News in Ballarat, Australia, was confronted by a stranger who stopped his car and walked out to harass her. And it was all caught on camera.

“I make ten times the amount of money you do. Get a real job,” the unnamed man tells Raworth. “Fucking journos. Lowest of the low.”

To her credit, Raworth kept the confrontation civil, asking the man what she had personally done to make him angry. But he wasn’t having it, and continued to abuse her with profanities and comments about her appearance. Read more…
