Hulu and Steven Spielberg are bringing back ‘Animaniacs’

Hulu will be resurrecting 90s animated cartoon hit Animaniacs. Yes, Yakko, Wakko and Dot Animaniacs, from the 90s. In this bizarre twist, which is probably designed to activate some kind of nostalgia center in the brains of 90s kids who are now of child-rearing age, executive producer Steven Spielberg is returning in the same role, and Hulu will also be streaming all existing 99 episodes of… Read More

The Niffler is back in ‘Fantastic Beasts 2’ but nothing makes up for Johnny Depp

Not to be outdone by the Porgmania sweeping the nation, Fantastic Beasts star Eddie Redmayne revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes of Grindelwald will introduce us to new magical creatures – and bring back the wily, adorable Niffler.

“There’s a Chinese creature that’s formidable,” Redmayne told EW. “There are some of the old favorites: The Niffler is back and causing havoc. As is Pickett.”

Pickett was in the first film as Newt Scamander’s faithful Bowtruckle – a small, stick-like creature that dwells in trees. Pickett is pretty loyal to Newt, and not a bad creature to have around in a tight spot. Read more…

Intel and Warner Bros. are teaming up to build in-cabin entertainment for autonomous cars

TwitterFacebook

When fully autonomous vehicles finally hit the road, they’ll turn everyone into a passenger. As such, we’ll need something to do in order to pass the time while we’re riding in our vehicles.

Luckily, Intel and Warner Bros. are here to help.

Intel and Warner Brosannounced today at the L.A. Auto Show that they’re teaming up to develop in-cabin entertainment experiences for cars of the future.

‘Justice League’ proves the world is big enough for two versions of The Flash

TwitterFacebook

When Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment made the somewhat controversial choice to keep their superhero movies and TV shows separate — ruling out any crossovers between their big and small screen projects — they were clearly differentiating themselves from Marvel’s interconnected “Cinematic Universe.”

(Never mind that, while ostensibly all taking place in the same continuity, the heroes from Marvel’s TV shows have yet to play any meaningful role, or even merit a namedrop, in Marvel’s movies — that’s a gripe for another day.)

Instead, DC views its properties as a “multiverse,” in which two versions of Superman can coexist peacefully because each story takes place in an alternate dimension: Tyler Hoechlin embodies the Man of Steel on The CW’s Supergirl, while Henry Cavill dons those iconic tights on a parallel earth — a narrative shortcut that comic book publishers have used for years to excuse the conflicting continuities and characterizations of their heroes across their various titles.  Read more…

‘Justice League’ looks ugly and rushed, but I liked it anyway

Justice League Justice League, the DC cinematic universe’s answer to The Avengers, is finally here. It comes at the end of a terrific year for superhero movies. Logan was genuinely great, while Wonder Woman‘s success should have demolished any lingering Hollywood skepticism about action movies directed by and starring women. Plus, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Thor: Ragnarok were pretty… Read More

They turned ‘Rampage’ into a movie (and here’s the first trailer)

Rampage Remember Rampage? It was a classic Midway arcade game (perhaps the greatest arcade game) where you got to bash cities to rubble while playing as a giant gorilla, lizard or wolf. (Let’s be real though: no one wanted to play as the wolf.) Well, Warner Bros. is turning it into a movie starring Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson, directed by Brad Peyton. Read More

Rotten Tomatoes is hiding its ‘Justice League’ score, but we’ve done the math

TwitterFacebook

Critics are in on Justice League, but Rotten Tomatoes won’t be revealing its official score until Thursday, just after the stroke of midnight. Someone finally thought to use the Tomatometer to drive eyeballs to a live streaming event, and so here we are.

But we’ve seen enough reviews by now to call it: This film will wind up rotten.

Of the 39 reviews we found online by early Wednesday morning, 22 leaned rotten, while 17 leaned fresh (and many of those just barely). That makes our early, highly unofficial aggregated score 44% fresh – well shy of the 60% mark needed for that coveted red sticker. Read more…

Gal Gadot reportedly won’t play Wonder Woman again until Brett Ratner gets the boot

TwitterFacebook

The very first thing audiences will see next weekend when the lights go down for Justice League is a logo for RatPac-Dune Entertainment – the financing company of disgraced Hollywood producer/director Brett Ratner.

Gal Gadot is reportedly saying enough is enough.

As Page Six reported this weekend, citing an unnamed “Hollywood source,” the Wonder Woman star won’t play the character again unless Ratner’s association with the franchise is severed completely. Warner Bros. tells us that the report is patently false, and Gadot’s publicist did not respond to messages seeking confirmation. Read more…
