This hilarious White House press briefing transcript is the dystopian satire we need

White House press briefings are endlessly bizarre. With so many strange and inexplicable moments brought to us by Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, it’s no surprise that the briefings are a perfect target for satire.
But of all the cutting Whit…

CNN reporter walks out of press briefing after heated exchange with Sarah Huckabee Sanders

The Trump administration hasn’t been on the best of terms with the media lately, to put it lightly.

On Thursday, CNN’s Jim Acosta walked out of a White House press briefing after Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to confirm that the press corps is not the “enemy of the people,” as Trump has repeatedly called them in the past.

“…You read off a laundry list of your concerns about the press and things you feel like are misreported,” Acosta told Sanders. “You did not say that you feel like the press is not the enemy of the people. I think it would be a good thing if you were to say, right here, at the briefing, that the press … are not the enemy of the people.” Read more…

Stephen Miller flat out falls asleep during Trump speech on school safety

Between frothing about “cosmopolitans” or getting escorted out of CNN by security, it’s rare to capture Senior White House policy advisor Stephen Miller in a humanlike moment.
We take what we can. Like today for example, when Jim Lo Scalzo from EPA p…

The photo that proves we’re living in the darkest timeline

Sure, things are bad, but it’s not like we’ve gone full dystopia yet.

I mean, our Great Leader isn’t lavishing praise on kowtowing corporations from giant screens while his dutiful lackey looks stone-faced into the distance …

Ah, yes, I see I spoke too soon. Welcome to just another day in 2018, which is turning out to be as batshit crazy as 2017.

During a press briefing on Thursday, the White House skipped the entire pretense of Sarah Huckabee Sanders providing the media with useful information.

Instead, it rolled a video of Donald Trump praising companies who gave very public one-time bonuses to employees after the Republican tax bill passed, including Comcast and AT&T (who’s also quietly firing thousands of workers in the weeks ahead). Read more…

The most insane White House presser moments of 2017

TwitterFacebook

Prior to 2017, my knowledge of White House press briefings came entirely from The West Wing. I thought fictional press secretary CJ Cregg’s collegial relationship with the White House press corps was typical. Oh how wrong I was — at least for the Trump administration.

A hostile relationship between the press and the White House emerged as soon as Sean Spicer took the podium in January 2017 and continued after his July resignation and the appointment of the more restrained Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Throughout the year, the antagonistic briefings have ranged from absurd to infuriating.

Journalists had to say what they were thankful for at White House briefing before asking questions

TwitterFacebook

“I’m clearly thankful for all of you,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters at Monday’s White House press briefing.

She was apparently joking since she followed up with, “In all seriousness …” and rattled off a list of things she was actually thankful for, like her family, job, and country.

The thankfulness didn’t stop with Sanders. She implemented a rule for Monday’s briefing — the final one before the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday.

“This is how it’s going to work today,” she said. “If you want to ask a question I think it’s only fair since I’ve shared what I’m thankful for…you start off with what you’re thankful for.” Read more…
