Facebook deletes angry DC fanboy group trying to bring down ‘Black Panther’

TwitterFacebook

Dear bitter internet trolls who are pissed that Black Panther is already blowing every superhero movie out of the water: boy, bye.

That’s basically what Rotten Tomatoes and Facebook told a short-lived campaign to bring down the upcoming film’s audience score before anyone even saw the damn thing. After critics who attended early screenings of Black Panther raved about it on social media, a Facebook group titled “Down with Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys” cropped up.

It accrued roughly 4,000 angry fanboys — before promptly being shut the hell down.

The group claimed it was motivated by a now familiar and hilariously misinformed conspiracy theory: Touted by DC fans, it alleges that Disney somehow pays off nearly every critic from every major publication to trash DC movies. Read more…

All hail the KingBlack Panther is already outpacing all other superhero movies with advance ticket sales.

Black Panther is currently Fandango’s top ticket-seller. The film is not due out for almost two weeks.

According to Fandango, 97 percent of surveyed users said they look forward to “a different kind of superhero movie,” and 93 percent have been looking forward to Black Panther since the character’s debut in Captain America: Civil War

“The buzz on Black Panther is electric,” says Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis. “Early screening audiences say it is one of Marvel’s best movies ever, and the positive word-of-mouth is helping drive the movie’s spectacular advance ticket sales.” Read more…

‘Black Panther’ was so exciting Donald Glover actually tweeted about it

TwitterFacebook

Donald Glover: actor, writer, musician, and tantalisingly infrequent tweeter.

Donald Glover attended the Black Panther premiere on Monday night, and has added his voice to the overwhelmingly positive reception of the film.

We’ve uploaded a screenshot of the tweet because Glover tends to delete tweets after posting them. This included, he has totalled nineteen tweets since joining in 2009.

That’s how big a deal this is.

You’re BACK?!!

The first reactions for ‘Black Panther’ are in, and yes, you can believe the hype

TwitterFacebook

The hype around Black Panther was certainly palpable.

It already has the biggest pre-sale numbers for a Marvel movie, and even Lupita Nyong’o — who plays Nakia in the film — struggled to get tickets for the opening night.

Following the global premiere, press were able to share their initial thoughts on the movie on social media from 1 a.m. ET Tuesday. And fortunately, it looks like we can all truly believe in the excitement.

As Mashable’s movie reporter Angie Han wrote on Twitter:

#BlackPanther: I never wanted this movie to end, and as soon as it did I wanted to go back. Solid action, smart story, tons of personality. Shuri is my new fave, Nakia is everything, Killmonger is incredible, T’Challa deserves to rule the MCU. Coogler has done it again. 💜🖤💙 pic.twitter.com/t9gG3DLuCL

Even Lupita Nyong’o can’t get her hands on ‘Black Panther’ tickets

TwitterFacebook

If you were unable to get Black Panther tickets for opening night because of the pre-sale records, find solace in the fact that you are not alone.

Lupita Nyong’o, who happens to actually be in the film, didn’t either. On Wednesday, the actress posted a video that she had filmed on Tuesday about the insane Fandango ticket numbers in the first 24 hours of availability for tickets.

@THR says @theblackpanther is @MarvelStudios best-selling movie in terms of presales after JUST 24 HOURS! Don’t I know it: I even tried!!!! #Throwback to a video I made last nightpic.twitter.com/aoJcdaqfhi

‘Black Panther’ scores biggest first-day presale ticket numbers for a Marvel movie

TwitterFacebook

Black Panther is the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe entry that looks like it’s going to blow our minds and it seems the general movie-going audience agrees as the film has set a new advanced ticket sales mark at Fandango for Marvel films.

Fandango managing editor dropped a tweet on Wednesday morning confirming the news.

Big news this morning – #BlackPanther sold more advance tickets on @Fandango in its first 24 hours than any other MCU movie, besting previous record holder Captain America: Civil War. Long live the King! pic.twitter.com/JL1c28AgWm
