This 9-year-old girl should be writing every caption for the New Yorker cartoons

TwitterFacebook

Kids should just run everything, shouldn’t they.

Comedy writer Bess Kalb shared pictures of the captions her cousin’s 9-year-old child has written for the New Yorker cartoon caption contest, and they went viral because… well…

Everything is terrible but my cousin’s 9-year old daughter Alice has been quietly and masterfully slaying the @NewYorker’s caption contest and it’s pure delightpic.twitter.com/Lhzmq7Pnsb

Twitter thread proves this British kids’ cartoon is the most traumatising show ever

TwitterFacebook

Anyone who’s ever watched Watership Down will know that cartoons aimed at small children aren’t necessarily going to be trauma-free.

British TV show The Animals of Farthing Wood, based on the books by Colin Dann and aired back in the early 90s, is further proof of this.

On Sunday, a Twitter thread chronicling all the horrendous things that happen over the show’s three-Season run went viral.

I’ve rewatched The Animals of Farthing Wood. Here’s the horrific casualty list in full. Brace yourselves… (1/13) pic.twitter.com/IqUGZRZyfA

Delightful artist drew a portrait of him and his girlfriend in 10 different cartoon styles and they’re all perfect

TwitterFacebook

There’s nothing like a thoughtful present from a loved one to elicit all the feels and this one takes the cake.

Illustrator Kells O’Hickey surprised his girlfriend Lindsay over the holidays with a present of 10 different sketches of themselves—but in the styles of different cartoons.

“On Christmas Eve, when we both got off work, we exchanged gifts,” O’Hickey told Mashable over email.

“She ripped the tissue paper off, grabbed the drawings and ignored the other gifts in there for about 30 minutes as she carefully paged through the drawings. When Linds finished, her eyes looked pretty puffy, she jumped on me and  gave me a huge hug and kiss, looked me in the eyes and said, ‘I love you to the moon and back,'” he continued. “It was perfect, her reaction nearly made me cry.” Read more…

Cartoon character Snagglepuss has his own comic, and he’s officially gay

TwitterFacebook

After years of speculation, it’s finally been confirmed: The classic and beloved cartoon star Snagglepuss is officially gay.

This may come as a shock to some, if they haven’t really looked into the life of the big, pink mountain lion who pals around with Huckleberry Hound & Co., but those in his inner circle have known for a very long time.

Mark Russell, who is writing a new DC comic book series based on Snagglepuss’s life — Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles is available January 3 —  delivers a pretty clear picture of what’s going on here. “Lila Lion is his beard, and he does have a boyfriend in his private life.” Read more…

Even these rats can’t stomach pumpkin spice

TwitterFacebook

The season is so thick with pumpkin spice flavored-everything, you can almost taste it in the air.

It’s in coffee, tea, Jamba Juice, Cheerios, Cliff bars, Oreos and dozens of other abominations.

Where does all that pumpkin spice flavoring end up? We have at least one disgusting idea.

Blech!   What's wrong?   Pumpkin spice.
