So Donald Glover tweeted out a script for his canned ‘Deadpool’ cartoon

TwitterFacebook

Donald Glover was all set to do an animated Deadpool series with Marvel TV..until he wasn’t. Thank goodness he has Twitter.

That cartoon could have been epic. The Atlanta creator and true star of Solo: A Star Wars Story knows his way around both comedy and social commentary, and he surely would have done amazing things with Deadpool.

But alas, it’s not to be. Glover and Marvel TV parted ways over the weekend, with FX — the network Deadpool was intended for (technically it was FXX) — citing “creative differences.” A real shame. Read more…

The ‘Deadpool 2’ trailer is bloody, explicit, and meta as f*ck

TwitterFacebook

If you’ve already made one of the most perversely enjoyable superhero movies of the modern era (that too with an R rating), every moment of the sequel is an unexpected bonusDeadpool 2 goes all-out in its first trailer – sure, they might not make a third one, but these guys seem just fine with that.

Deadpool 2 sees our red-suited red-band hero fighting Cable (Josh Brolin) to protect a young boy (New Zealand’s Julian Dennison, basically reprising his role from Hunt for the Wilderpeople). To do that, Wade has to assemble the right team – the X-Force, as he’s dubbed it, though Domino (Zazie Beetz) is quick to call that out as derivative. Read more…

‘Deadpool 2’ poster hilariously channels… ‘Flashdance’?!

TwitterFacebook

Take your passion. And make it happen. Ryan Reynolds knows his movie history.

Reynolds reference to Flashdance in Deadpool 2‘s latest poster could just be a cute visual riff. Orrrrr… it could be a nod to the unexpected success of Flashdance, a critically reviled 1983 film that turned into a box office smash, and the third-highest grossing release of that year.

Sort of like a little R-rated superhero production called Deadpool, released in early 2016 — a time of year when movies are usually sent to die. The first Deadpool finished the year in the #6 spot in the box office, earning more than $783 million worldwide. Read more…

Ryan Reynolds posts hilarious pic implying Deadpool is already in trouble with Disney

TwitterFacebook

Disney just bought Fox for $52 billion and now owns, among other things, the Merc with the Mouth. Ryan Reynolds quickly shared a photo of Deadpool being escorted from the Disneyland premises with the caption “Apparently you can’t blow the Matterhorn.”

Deadpool is known for his unsavory comments and a formidable level of snark that brought the 2016 film an R rating (not to mention blockbuster success).
