Much like winter, Game of Thrones is coming. While most details about Season 8 of Thrones have been kept under wraps by HBO, the powers that be have decided to allow a few cracks in the wall of information as the final season approaches — here’s what was spilled just this week.

The Teaser

On November 13th, HBO released a…not quite trailer announcing Season 8’s premiere month and hashtag: #ForThe Throne.

The teaser included watershed moments from previous seasons like the wildfire explosion at the Sept of Baelor, the Battle of the Bastards, and the Purple Wedding under old dialogue from Cersei and Jon Snow.  Read more…

‘Game of Thrones’ director says Season 8 twists will rival the Red Wedding

TwitterFacebook

Game of Thrones‘ final season might only be six episodes, but director David Nutter confirmed that they’ll be super-sized. (We already knew this, but thank the old gods and the new.)

Nutter also suggested, in a Reddit AMA, that there are jaw-dropping twists ahead.

“As far as season 8 compared to the Red Wedding I just have to tell you — hang onto your seat cause it’s going to be special,” Nutter said. He also called the final season “spectacular, inspiring, satisfying,” with “lots of surprises and shocking moments.”

That seems like a warning for fans to steel themselves. The notorious Red Wedding, which slaughtered several key characters near the end of Season 3, was a plot twist that discombobulated fans immensely.  Read more…

Sean Bean predicts which Stark kid will survive on ‘Game of Thrones’

TwitterFacebook

Sean Bean’s unmatched talent for dying on screen has traumatized fans everywhere.

Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones — the list of gut-wrenching deaths is long enough to outlast most Sean Bean characters. He knows he’s caused us a lot of pain in the past. But hopefully his new role in the upcoming Hitman 2 can provide some bloody catharsis for all our grief.

Because instead of mourning him, players will now be tasked with figuring out how to kill his character, Mark Fab, as the world-class assassin Agent 47. Faba, a former M15 agent nicknamed “The Undying” (lol), will be the first Elusive Target mission released for the game a week after it launches on Nov 13. Read more…

HBO president teases ‘Game of Thrones’ release

TwitterFacebook

Game of Thrones will return for its eighth and final season in the earlier half of 2019, HBO President Casey Bloys confirmed on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association press tour.

This is the first official word on when exactly in 2019 the season will drop – though we’ve still got some narrowing down to do.

Bloys specifically said Season 8 would premiere in the “first half” of 2019, which gives us quite a range for the six-episode season. Major actors have wrapped filming, which means the episodes could be ready if the network wants a winter release (imagine Thrones in winter!).  Read more…

‘Game of Thrones’ set images could foreshadow a new ruler of Westeros

TwitterFacebook

As filming on Season 8 Game of Thrones comes to an end, fans continue to scour the sets for clues on what lies ahead for Westeros. After all, these final weeks of shooting are our last chance to ever gleam information about the final season from behind-the-scenes leaks.

The latest fan images captured a drastic change to a central and important set. It could spell out  something huge — or it could be a whole lot of nothing.

We’re entering full-on tinfoil speculation territory, but isn’t that half the fun of Game of Thrones?

For months now, all eyes have been on Titanic Studios in Belfast. After spending nearly a year building an enormous King’s Landing set on the backlot, we’ve seen evidence of it burning (from friendly dragonfire or undead dragon fire?) and one tantalizing glimpse at a never-before-seen wing of the the Red Keep.
