If you happen to be a star in Game of Thrones, interviews — pretty much any interview, even if it’s not directly about the fantasy epic — must be something of a minefield.

The further along the show has progressed, the more obsessed we’ve all become with finding clues about where the story’s headed. During the last Season, scripts and even whole episodes were being leaked on an almost weekly basis.

The latest detail to make headlines, though, wasn’t a plot point — it was a supposed release date.

HBO boss says ‘Game of Thrones’ had to push back to make the best show possible

TwitterFacebook

The long winter is here, and by that we mean the agonizing wait between Seasons 7 and 8 of Game of Thrones. After HBO confirmed that Season 8 won’t premiere until 2019, network president Casey Bloys insists that this was a calculated decision – not just a way to draw out the pain of waiting for and losing this show.

“It wasn’t necessarily a delay,” Bloys told TVLine. “It was based on when they felt that they could deliver a show that they are most proud of.”

“They” of course means show runners David Beniof and D.B. Weiss, who must be eyeing an ambitious final season full of battling zombies, dragons, and more. Read more…

We can always count on Jason Momoa’s enthusiasm to get us through the day, whether he’s brightening up Justice League with his bro-speak or geeking out about Game of Thrones, the show that killed him off back in Season 1 but still retains his eternal loyalty.

During a recent visit to Belfast to see his buddies — but not to reprise his role as Khal Drogo (“He’s dead! He can’t come back, it wouldn’t work,” Momoa insists) — the Aquaman star apparently found out a lot more than he wanted to about Game of Thrones‘ final season.
