How will Ted Cruz celebrate his victory over Beto? Twitter has some hilariously deranged answers.

TwitterFacebook

Hell hath no memes like those made by Beto O’Rourke fans after learning Ted Cruz was re-elected to his Senate seat in Texas.

On Tuesday night, as the results of the 2018 midterm elections were being tallied, Americans learned that Republican candidate Ted Cruz — the man who jokes about being the Zodiac Killer — had received more votes than his opponent — the burger-loving, skateboarding family man, Beto O’Rourke.

Naturally, many were displeased to hear the news. So while Cruz was busy giving his victory speech in front of loyal fans, others took it upon themselves to drag him.

Kim Davis, the county clerk in Kentucky who was briefly jailed for defying a court order to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, has lost her bid for re-election.

As reported by CNN, the controversial conservative Republican was beaten by Democrat Elwood Caudill Jr. in Rowan County by about 650 votes, according to unofficial results posted by the state elections board.

Beto O’Rourke dropped the f-bomb on live TV and people love it

TwitterFacebook

It wasn’t Beto O’Rourke’s night.

But despite the defeat to Ted Cruz in the Senate race at the midterm elections, Beto was in a rallying mood during his emotional concession speech.

He also dropped the f-word — uncensored — on live TV, telling the crowd to a huge cheer, “I’m so fucking proud of you guys!”

MSNBC’s Brian Williams later apologised for what was said, telling viewers that “we have no control over what it’s in the concession speeches of various campaigns.”

But it’s not like the internet cared, with big fans of the f-bomb lining up to declare their loyalty to O’Rourke. Read more…

The New York Times’ election needle is broken and people are jonesing hard

TwitterFacebook

UPDATE: Nov. 6, 2018, 6:48 p.m. PST We regret to inform you that the needle is back. Feel free to resume wallowing in overwhelming existential dread.

The New York Timeselection needle failure may be the healthiest possible outcome for our collective mental health.

The infamous needle sparked deep-seated anxiety and ignited endless rage during the 2016 presidential election, when it perilously oscillated before settling on Trump’s victory. Ahead of the midterm elections this year, people were outspoken about how much that damn needle stressed them out.

“When the Needle whirs to life like the smoke monster in Lost, chances are you’ve already cast your vote, you’ve worked the rest of your day in the office, stress-eating whatever baked goods come your way.” The latest from @oureric: https://t.co/xCzrlApIad

This election night Photoshop battle imagines wild political agendas

TwitterFacebook

Election night 2018 has only just begun in earnest, but the memes are already here.

Among them, unsurprisingly, is a Photoshop battle. It began when Jordan Uhl tweeted CNN screenshots featuring two blank lists: the “liberal agenda” if Democrats win big tonight and the “GOP agenda” if Republicans come out on top.

Let’s have some fun. Send me your best onespic.twitter.com/El1g0kL7Vg

— jordan (@JordanUhl) November 6, 2018

“Let’s have some fun,” he wrote. “Send me your best ones.” That seems like a tall order, since having fun seems fairly impossible these days, but people did make some really good jokes. Think “think is the future liberals want,” but weirder because everyone is stressed out. Read more…
