It wasn’t Beto O’Rourke’s night.
But despite the defeat to Ted Cruz in the Senate race at the midterm elections, Beto was in a rallying mood during his emotional concession speech.
He also dropped the f-word — uncensored — on live TV, telling the crowd to a huge cheer, “I’m so fucking proud of you guys!”
MSNBC’s Brian Williams later apologised for what was said, telling viewers that “we have no control over what it’s in the concession speeches of various campaigns.”
But it’s not like the internet cared, with big fans of the f-bomb lining up to declare their loyalty to O’Rourke. Read more…

Stephen King wants you to vote. And if you’ve ever had so much as a quick glance at his Twitter feed, you probably already know which way.
On Monday, the day before midterms, the horror master took to Twitter to post two final, pre-voting tweets.
The first contained a fairly blunt metaphor.
Donld Trump is a runaway horse, and we’re all on board. Vote Democratic tomorrow. Let’s put a bit in his mouth and rein him in.#VoteBlue

The second, meanwhile, was just fairly blunt.
Last tweet on politics for awhile. Trump has successfully channeled America’s id: the hatred, the prejudice, the dishonesty, the willing ignorance and turning away from facts. Most of all, the fear. Turn away from these things#VoteBlue. Be courageous.

Yes, the midterm elections are on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
But with typically lower than usual voter turnout in the midterms compared to presidential elections, getting people to vote (or not lying about it) can be a challenge.
Fortunately, Jimmy Kimmel has a good way of shaming people into ensuring they vote: by asking people about their voting experience, last Tuesday. And no, these aren’t early voters — these are people claiming to have voted that very day in person.
Surprisingly, people have exceptionally detailed answers lying about what it was like to vote. We hope that their experiences are the same when they do it for real tomorrow. Read more…

Hey Twitter voters, find a time machine.
Twitter launched additional features for its #BeAVoter election campaign on Thursday. But even the best laid plans don’t always go off without a hitch.
One of the new features was a countdown to the election, along with a link to resources on where to vote.
But the countdown feature caused a bit of hilarious confusion. Some Twitter users reported that Twitter was reminding them to vote — in negative 17,819 days.
