A grab bag of 2018 TV spoilers lies ahead. You have been warned.

We’re not mad. Just disappointed.

The past twelve months of TV gave us killer comedy specials, incredible new series, and a whole lot of (positive) NOPE. Unfortunately, in the words of renowned television critic Isaac Newton, what goes up must come down. Hard.

From Pete Davidson mocking a veteran on SNL to the hellscape that was the Season 2 finale of 13 Reasons Why, here are 9 of the most irresponsible TV moments of 2018—in ascending order of do better-ness

Note: We’re keeping this list in the entertainment realm — hard news obviously had its own host of issues this year. Read more…

Borat is back to tamper with the midterms and it’s so, so awkward

Yep, you read that correctly — Borat is back.

Sacha Baron Cohen shares an impressively awkward video of Ali G interviewing Trump

TwitterFacebook

Even if everyone else abandons him or goes to jail, Ali G will always be by Trump’s side.

On Thursday, comedian Sacha Baron Cohen shared an old — and particularly painful — video of his most famous character, Ali G, interviewing Donald Trump. In a follow-up note, Ali G expressed affection for President Trump during this difficult time.

Watch in horror as Trump claims that humans existed hundreds of millions of years ago, an idea that’s been disproven by pretty much everyone in existence. Remember: this video was filmed before Trump ran for president, when he was notably more coherent. Read more…

Sacha Baron Cohen tricks food critic into approving ‘ethical’ cannibalism

Sacha Baron Cohen’s Who Is America has made it clear that no one is exempt from the comedian’s satirical skewering. The latest unfortunate victim is food critic Bill Jilla, whom Cohen convinces to eat (fake) human flesh while masquerading as a Mi…

Sarah Palin interview may have been cut from Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘Who Is America?’

TwitterFacebook

Sacha Baron Cohen shows no mercy to his interviewees — except, perhaps, for one very notable exception.

At a panel for the Television Critic’s Association on Monday, Showtime entertainment president Gary Levine revealed that the Sarah Palin interview, one of the most anticipated segments of Who Is America?, might not even make it to air.

When asked when the Palin episode would air, Levine started throwing caution to the wind. “There are several people who have thrown themselves in front of buses that may not be headed their way,” he said, according to Entertainment Weekly. Read more…

Departing Georgia lawmaker knocked for his racist antics on Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘Who Is America?’

TwitterFacebook

Everybody, I’d like to you meet Jason Spencer.

Jason is a soon-to-be-former state representative in Georgia — he lost the election primary in May to a newcomer, too bad so sad — who’s enjoying some last-minute infamy in office as the butt of a Sacha Baron Cohen joke. You see, it’s still poor form in the USA (for now) to publicly perpetuate racist stereotypes and scream the N-word repeatedly.

That’s exactly what Jason did when he was duped into appearing on camera with a heavily disguised Cohen, as part of an anti-terrorism training video. I’m not going to repeat the litany of ever-escalating gaffes he commits; you can see it for yourself. Read more…

That ‘waterboarding kit’ Dick Cheney signed on Sacha Baron Cohen’s show? Looks like it’s on eBay.

TwitterFacebook

In one of the most WTF moments from Sacha Baron Cohen’s second episode of Who Is America?, former vice president Dick Cheney signed what was referred to as a “waterboarding kit.”

And now, it looks like it’s sitting on eBay.

Listed as the “original water board kit” signed by Cheney, the product is currently sitting at a bid of $1,700 — with 50 bids in total at the time of writing.

Who Is America? officially premiered last week on Showtime in the U.S. and on streaming service Stan in Australia. As Sarah Palin found out the hard way, Cohen has been filming interviews with U.S. politicians and lobbyists for a year in disguise, creating a host of new characters for the show. Read more…
