Cold food is the best food

We can all agree that food served fresh from the oven is delicious, right? But as a food connoisseur and passionate eater I’m here to tell you there’s something even better than hot food: cold food.

To be clear, I’m not talking about foods like ice cream that are normally served in a chilled state. I’m talking about foods that are traditionally served hot, then refrigerated and eaten cold. Leftovers!

Many people choose to warm up leftovers, which is something I’ve never understood, because cold food is freakin’ delicious. Not only does it taste better IMO, but you don’t have to waste time impatiently waiting for it to cool down. There are no tongue burns, and no heat or steam to distract your mouth from enjoying flavors to the fullest. Cold food is the best. Read more…

Papa John’s is removing disgraced founder from its logo

As far as his company is concerned, Papa John is Papa gone.

According to an AP report, Papa John’s founder and former CEO John Schnatter will be removed from all company marketing materials — including pizza boxes — after it was revealed that he used the n-word on a conference call in May.

“The Board of Directors of Papa John’s accepted Mr. Schnatter’s resignation as Chairman of the Board earlier this week,” current CEO Steve Ritchie wrote in an open letter for the brand’s website. “It has also been decided he will no longer be in any of the advertising or marketing materials associated with the brand.” Read more…

This robot pizza company’s delivery trucks can now bake 120 pizzas per hour

The robots are hungry for more pizza.

Zume Pizza, the Silicon Valley startup that uses robots (with some human assistance) to assemble pizzas ordered via its app, is now delivering even more pies — cooked while en route to customers.

Using the company’s patented “Baked on the Way” technology and the delivery truck’s six ovens, pizza-makers can bake up to 120 pizzas per hour.

Zume CEO Alex Garden called the operation “basically a restaurant on wheels” in a call about expanded delivery areas in the Bay Area and the revamped delivery vehicles. The pizza restaurant has officially partnered with food equipment supplier Welbilt to outfit delivery trucks with high-efficiency ovens. Read more…
