And her sister, Dylan Farrow, has slammed every word, accusing her of “bizarre fabrications.”

In a New York Magazine profile published on Sunday night, Soon-Yi discussed what she described as a fractured relationship with her adopted mother, and stood up for Allen in the midst of refreshed sexual abuse allegations by her sister, Dylan.

“I was never interested in writing a Mommie Dearest, getting even with Mia — none of that,” Soon-Yi told the publication.  Read more…

TwitterFacebook

Disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein’s attorney says there was “no criminality” in his client’s behavior, according to a new statement.

Issued Sunday and first published by Deadline, Weinstein’s attorney Ben Brafman responded to the civil rights lawsuit now filed against Weinstein, his brother Bob, and The Weinstein Company by NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

According to Reuters, Schneiderman claims the company’s board and executives failed to adequately protect employees from Weinstein, who has been accused of sexual misconduct, including rape, by over 70 women. Weinstein has constantly denied anything non-consensual happened. Read more…

Hey Aziz Ansari defenders, saying ‘no’ is more complex than you think

TwitterFacebook

It took very little time for the same-old deeply dangerous rhetoric to rear its ugly head after the publication of a report accusing Aziz Ansari of sexual misconduct. In the anonymous report—published over the weekend by Babe—a woman shares her account the alleged misconduct which took place on a date in September 2017.

The responses to the woman’s story are peppered with the word “should.” She should have said no; she should have walked out; she should never have taken off her clothes; she shouldn’t have been there in the first place. These responses, which are disturbingly widespread, not only shift the blame and responsibility onto the woman, they also fail to recognise an important truth. For many women, uttering an explicit “no” is not as easy or straightforward as you might think. Read more…

In the piece, she explained that “the anonymous, crowdsourced document was a first attempt at solving what has seemed like an intractable problem: how women can protect ourselves from sexual harassment and assault.”

Dylan Farrow slams stars supporting Time’s Up, but working with Woody Allen

TwitterFacebook

Hollywood is smack bang in the middle of a revolution against sexual harassment and abuse, but Dylan Farrow has had it with some stars’ apparent hypocrisy.

The daughter of director Woody Allen has slammed several supporters of the anti-harassment initiative Time’s Up, including Blake Lively, star of Café Society, and Justin Timberlake, star of Wonder Wheel, for continuing to work with her father.

“It’s of course particularly hard for me as a survivor of sexual abuse to know that for these particular individuals I am not part of the ‘every woman’ they stand for.” https://t.co/XmIq8L2dOm
