Goats continue world domination by taking over New York City subway tracks

TwitterFacebook

Not to be dramatic or anything, but goats continue to conspire against humanity — this time against the people of New York.

Following their massive takeover in Boise, Idaho, goats in New York City attempted to interfere with the already failing subway system on Monday morning when two goats somehow stumbled onto some above-ground train tracks in Brooklyn. The pair were spotted on the N line track, just chilling out and being goats.

A new one for us (we think): Two goats are roaming along the N line tracks in Brooklyn. They’re safe and not currently affecting service, but they are on the run. We’ll keep you posted.

Los Angeles Metro will deploy body scanners for security

TwitterFacebook

Big Brother cares.

The Los Angeles metro will roll out body scanners in its subway stations, according to the Associated Press (AP). It will use scanners from the British security company ThruVision, capable of scanning upwards of 2,000 people per hour. According to the AP, Los Angeles is the first city in the US to employ body scanning security.

The scanners will monitor visitors for concealed weapons — both metal and non-metal capable of causing “mass casualties.” They’re not “necessarily” looking for smaller weapons. Instead, they are trying to identify things like suicide vests or assault weapons. Read more…

Subway artist Marc Mueller — aka StreetMule — has been performing his whole life, whether touring with the likes of REM and the Red Hot Chili Peppers or creating a percussive group with his brother. Twitter is trolling Elon Musk for thinking he invented the subway

TwitterFacebook

Ahh, tech industry hubris. It never ceases to inspire.

On Thursday, Elon Musk held an information session to discuss the progress of his Boring Company, and share his vision for the future of transportation in Los Angeles. What that amounts to is … wait for it …. a series of tunnels! That pedestrians can access through a magnitude of street-level stations, no larger than — hang on — a parking spot!

Sound familiar? The good citizens of Twitter thought so.

This is just getting ridiculous pic.twitter.com/Xj97pLegX7

Subway worker forgets to turn off intercom, accidentally entertains riders with Dan Brown’s ‘Inferno’

Hands have never been so interesting, thanks to the ‘Subway Hands’ Instagram account

TwitterFacebook

Sometimes the internet grants us all something so mind boggling that we need to stop, breathe, examine, and appreciate the limitless wonders of humanity.

Or, more specifically, the wonders—and terrors—of human hands.

Let me introduce you to the Instagram account where both joy and terror co-exist peacefully: subwayhands. It’s a little corner of the internet that is exactly what it advertises itself to be. It’s a grid full of the contorted, folded, gripping claws of human hands on the New York City Subway (though there are a few exceptions).  Read more…

Forget the subway, Elon Musk wants us all to commute on his ‘Urban Loop System’

Elon Musk recently tweeted about prioritizing pedestrians and cyclists with his ‘Urban Loop System.’
These pods would ideally be better than subways and shuttles because they can reach speeds up to 125 mph and would leave you closer to your des…

Woman is delighted to find herself alone on train, until she realizes she’s not

TwitterFacebook

Finding yourself alone on public transportation is a rare and miraculous occurrence.

Stevie was so delighted to find out that she seemed to be the only occupant of a train car, that she broke out into an improvised musical number.

She sang loudly for nearly a minute—before realizing that, actually, there was another person on the train.

Please enjoy this fantastic video of my friend Stevie. It’s one of my favorite things ever pic.twitter.com/gTDaioUtOR

Woopsies.

She continues the song, though, briefly serenading the other passenger, before she exits. Read more…

New York commuter prefers the company of a goblin wearing the same outfit as him

TwitterFacebook

New York has truly seen it all.

This week on the subway, @bootyslime observed a man sit down and casually take a goblin out of his bag wearing the same outfit as him. He then proceeded to put the thing on his lap like a child.

this dude sat down & pulled a fucking goblin in a matching outfit out of the nike bag pic.twitter.com/HUL3lxNz40

This strange scene was corroborated by another watchful New Yorker who took video of this odd pair.

I literally saw this same guy in nyc wtf!! pic.twitter.com/qxU7HBFRd8

After further research, the internet learned that this goblin is actually a “werepup,” or a very realistic looking “werewolf baby.” Alright, sure. But why get dressed in matching outfits?  Read more…

Subway launches a confusing loyalty program called MyWay

TwitterFacebook

Subway, the world’s largest fast food chain, is launching a new loyalty program, called Subway MyWay Rewards, that will offer customers surprise treats and tokens that eventually mature into dollars.

The move is a step toward earning more customer love, as well as making the Subway experience more digital — since it comes with a mobile app refresh.

Subway MyWay Rewards launches in the U.S. and Canada in March and will be available at 28,500 restaurants. With Subway’s scale, it’ll be one of the largest loyalty programs in the world, though MyWay is far from Subway’s first effort in this arena. For example, the chain previously offered free meals with a punch card system called Sub Club. That was discontinued in 2005 in part due to fraud, as Wired reported. The new system tries to avoid that by making it all mobile.  Read more…
