There is really no way to thank teachers, who are vital and woefully underpaid, for everything they do. But you can start by giving them end-of-year gifts that don’t suck.

This means stepping away from the corny mugs (sorry) and looking for gifts teachers might actually want — whether to give their classrooms a boost or allow themselves some much-needed relaxation.

Teachers work hard, and they deserve to let their hair down and have some fun. And fun is precisely what was had by the teachers of Wragby Primary School in Lincolnshire, northern England when they made their own rendition of Carpool Karaoke

The staff of Wragby Primary School crammed in pop culture references to their DIY version of the format on James Corden’s show. One of the teachers yodelled in a supermarket while the other teachers sang and danced to Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it)”. 

Also featured was the dance move that’s taken the world by storm lately—the floss dance. As the teachers drove along country lanes to school, other staff members did the floss dance by the side of the road.  Read more…

Teacher sends back letter from White House, after correcting it

Retired English teacher Yvonne Mason has spent much of her life correcting students’ writing.

But it’s a letter from the White House, signed by President Donald Trump, which has proved a pretty noteworthy correction exercise — and it’s attracted plenty of attention.

“If it had been written in middle school, I’d give it a C or C-plus,” she told The Greenville. “If it had been written in high school, I’d give it a D.”

Mason, who retired last year after a 17-year career in South Carolina, corrected the letter she had received in response to her concerns following the February shooting at Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Read more…
