Finally, Twitter shares actual examples of violent and sexual content *not* allowed

TwitterFacebook

Listen up, tweeps and President Trump—Twitter has some new tips on what not to post.

On Friday, Twitter added specific examples of “graphic violence” and “adult content” that would not be allowed on the site.

Twitter’s policy against violent and sexual content is not brand new, but the company’s never been so transparent about what it categorizes under each of these categories. The updates were shared via a blog post Friday.

For graphic violence, Twitter lists depictions of:

  • the moment at which someone dies

  • gruesome crime or accident scenes

  • bodily harm, torture, dismemberment, or mutilation  Read more…

Donald Trump reacts to his Twitter account being taken down for 11 minutes

TwitterFacebook

Everything happens on Twitter these days.

Donald J. Trump responds, Trump-style, on Twitter after a Twitter employee (who was on his last day at the company) deactivated his Twitter account.

“My Twitter account was taken down for 11 minutes by a rogue employee. I guess the word must finally be getting out-and having an impact,” the President tweeted.

People freaked out as Trump’s Twitter follower count dropped to only 4,000

TwitterFacebook

Hours after it was restored, U.S. president Donald Trump’s Twitter account still struggled with technical issues, as its follower count dropped drastically to 4,000.

The account was shortly restored to its previous 41 million followers, but panic had already ensued.

Trump’s account had been taken down for 11 minutes on Thursday, as the Twitterverse freaked out. Twitter later discovered it was done by a customer service rep who deactivated the account on their last day at work.

Through our investigation we have learned that this was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee’s last day. We are conducting a full internal reviewhttps://t.co/mlarOgiaRF

Stephen Colbert uses candy to brutally destroy Donald Trump Jr.’s Halloween tweet

TwitterFacebook

Stephen Colbert has no time for born-rich people making obnoxious points about socialism, using innocent children.

We’re referring to Donald Trump Jr.’s incredibly tone-deaf tweet on Halloween, which included a picture of his daughter Chloe looking sad, and a supposedly economic and political “lesson.”

“Yes, it’s never too early to teach kids the danger of sharing,” Colbert said. “Also, it’s never too early to learn the proper spelling of ‘too.'”

“But while we’re at it, Don Jr., on Halloween, kids go to door to door to get free candy from the neighbors, because the kids don’t have it, and the neighbors do. That’s socialism,” Colbert added.  Read more…

Why Best Buy charged so much for the iPhone X

TwitterFacebook

Best Buy was marking some iPhone X pre-orders to $100 over Apple’s price — but no longer.

The electronics retailer announced today that it will no longer allow customers to pre-order the iPhone X unactivated and with upfront payment. Apple aficionados will now have to order the phone tied to a specific carrier, and with an installment plan.

When you purchase an unactivated phone, you’re essentially purchasing a clean slate: a phone that has yet to be associated with a carrier or a data plan. Best Buy claims that there was high customer demand for unactivated phones because people with employer-financed data plans often need their phones approved before they’re activated.  Read more…

Periscope ups payouts to broadcasters on sales of Super Hearts, adds holiday bonuses

Twitter’s Periscope is going after live broadcasters in a big way, as it’s now promising to give back more of their earnings from the sales of Super Hearts in their live video streams.
Introduced in June, Super Hearts are in-app virtual goods that offer a form of virtual tipping.
The idea is similar to Twitch’s or YouTube’s emotes, but instead of custom emoji… Read More
