Team behind Time’s Person of the Year issue was all women

TwitterFacebook

The “Silence Breakers” who spoke out about sexual assault and harassment in show business, media, and the workplace, made it onto the cover and into the pages of Time’s annual Person of the Year issue and it was a group of women who made the special issue possible.

Time national correspondent Charlotte Alter pointed out after Wednesday’s reveal of the most influential person, or in this case widespread group of people, that the magazine came together with the help of many women.

From the idea to highlight the #MeToo movement and the people who spoke out about abuse to the story reporting and writing to the fact-checking — it was all womenVideo and photo designs were also put together by women.  Read more…

Twitter has spoken: Taylor Swift is not the ‘badder bitch’

TwitterFacebook

Despite Taylor Swift’s grand attempt at rebranding her reputation from “innocent girl who cries teardrops on her guitar while writing love songs in her room” to “bad bitch who sits on golden throne surrounded by snakes,” the internet still doesn’t think she’s that bad.

A hilarious new meme, started after Twitter user “Nutella” challenged people to “Name a badder bitch than Taylor Swift,” has shown that people feel just about anyone — even fictional children’s show star Dora the Explorer — has a more rep as a badass than the singer.

Marvel superhero pic inspires Twitter to post photos of kickass women in suits

Like Marvel superheroes, women are all power, all the time, and can seriously obliterate a pair of shoulder pads.

Looking for an “afternoon pick-me-up,” MTV’s chief TV critic Inkoo Kang called out on Twitter for photos of women in suits on Tuesday, paired with a “gang’s all here” image of the kickass women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kang wrote she was inspired by Thor: Ragnarok actor Tessa Thompson’s “boxy plaid.”

TwitterFacebook

Television host Charlie Rose is the latest media man to be accused of sexual misconduct, and his female colleagues are weighing in.

After The Washington Post reported that eight women had come forward to speak out against Rose on Monday, CBS This Morning’s Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell addressed the allegations on air, acknowledging Rose was their co-worker but making it clear they stand with the women who came forward.

“It takes a lot of courage for these women to come forward and I think that they should continue to do so,” O’Donnell said, kicking off the emotional segment. “This is a moment that demands a frank and honest assessment about where we stand and more generally the safety of women.”  Read more…
