Jennifer Garner stars in the perfectly obnoxious, totally hilarious trailer for Lena Dunham’s ‘Camping’

Say what you will about Lena Dunham, but she’s clearly mastered a certain type of obnoxious comedy.

After ending her HBO hit Girls last year, the writer/director returns with a new show for the same network. This time, though, Dunham appears to be straying from autobiography and mostly staying behind the camera.

Camping stars Jennifer Garner in a role we’re not accustomed to seeing her in. Even from just this 30-second teaser, it’s clear the uptight Kathryn will be at least fun to watch — even if she’s insufferable to actually be around.

The show, which also stars Doctor Who and Jessica Jones‘ David Tennant, follows her reluctant journey into the outdoors to celebrate a birthday. Alongside Dunham, co-creators Jenni Konner and John Riggi have adapted the originally British series for an American audience. Read more…

Television host Charlie Rose is the latest media man to be accused of sexual misconduct, and his female colleagues are weighing in.

After The Washington Post reported that eight women had come forward to speak out against Rose on Monday, CBS This Morning’s Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell addressed the allegations on air, acknowledging Rose was their co-worker but making it clear they stand with the women who came forward.

“It takes a lot of courage for these women to come forward and I think that they should continue to do so,” O’Donnell said, kicking off the emotional segment. “This is a moment that demands a frank and honest assessment about where we stand and more generally the safety of women.”  Read more…

Lena Dunham defends ‘Girls’ writer accused of rape

TwitterFacebook

“Girls” creator Lena Dunham and her co-producer and writer Jenni Konner have defended a writer from the HBO show who was accused of raping a 17-year-old actress. He was 35 at the time of the alleged assault.

The allegations against writer Murray Miller, now 40, were reported Friday by The Wrap. Actress Aurora Perrineau, currently 23, filed a police report earlier this year claiming he raped her in 2012 after a drunken night out. Dunham and Konner sent a statement late Friday to The Hollywood Reporter, essentially calling Perrineau a liar.

“While our first instinct is to listen to every woman’s story, our insider knowledge of Murray’s situation makes us confident that sadly this accusation is one of the 3 percent of assault cases that are misreported every year,” they wrote. According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, the rate of false reporting for sexual assault ranges from 2 percent to 8 percent. Read more…
