Gal Gadot non-response to James Cameron’s bad ‘Wonder Woman’ take was the perfect answer

TwitterFacebook

James Cameron had thoughts on Wonder Woman, and he wasn’t been shy about sharing them. But if Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, had any thoughts on James Cameron in return, she’s been keeping them to herself.

Turns out there’s a reason for that.

Over the summer, Cameron blasted the “self-congratulatory back-patting” surrounding Wonder Woman, calling the character an “objectified icon” who represented “a step backwards.”

You know, unlike Sarah Connor, the “strong” and “troubled” heroine of Terminator 2 – which, hey, just so happened to be returning to theaters as a 3D rerelease right around the time Cameron gave the interview. Check your local listings! Read more…

The top three films of the 2017 box office all starred women

TwitterFacebook

For the third year in a row, a Star Wars movie emerged as the highest-grossing release of the year in the U.S. – which meant that for the third year in a row, the biggest film in the country was one featuring a female protagonist.

But Rey was just the beginning.

The second-biggest film of the year was Beauty and the Beast. The third? Wonder Woman. According to TheWrap, 2017 marks the first year since 1958 in which the three highest-grossing domestic titles all had female leads. (If you’re wondering, the top three that time were South Pacific, Auntie Mame, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.) Read more…

In new profile, Gal Gadot explains how to pronounce her last name

TwitterFacebook

Among other things, we live in the age of Wonder Woman, and that is at least One Good Thing™. Not only have the film and character become essential to the fabric of our culture, but star Gal Gadot could not be a more fitting figure to bring this character to life.

In a GQ profile that describes Wonder Woman as a “swirling vortext of goodwill,” Gadot appears to be the physical embodiment of just that. With Hollywood imploding because of toxic masculinity and abuse of power, Gadot and Wonder Woman remain a rare source of good.

‘Wonder Woman 2’ will hit theaters sooner than we expected

TwitterFacebook

Leave it to Wonder Woman to make your day just a little bit brighter.

Wonder Woman 2 has just been set to hit theaters November 1, 2019 – a full six weeks earlier than the previously announced December 13, 2019 release date.

No official reason was given for the change, but it probably has something to do with the fact that Disney has Star Wars: Episode IX set for December 20, 2019. And maybe also the fact that Thor: Ragnarok just did ginormous numbers in the corresponding weekend of this year.

As of now, Wonder Woman has that November 1, 2019 release date all to itself – though Fox has November 22, 2019 reserved for an as-yet-untitled Marvel movie. (Yeah, the superhero movie wave doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon.) Read more…

Gal Gadot reportedly won’t play Wonder Woman again until Brett Ratner gets the boot

TwitterFacebook

The very first thing audiences will see next weekend when the lights go down for Justice League is a logo for RatPac-Dune Entertainment – the financing company of disgraced Hollywood producer/director Brett Ratner.

Gal Gadot is reportedly saying enough is enough.

As Page Six reported this weekend, citing an unnamed “Hollywood source,” the Wonder Woman star won’t play the character again unless Ratner’s association with the franchise is severed completely. Warner Bros. tells us that the report is patently false, and Gadot’s publicist did not respond to messages seeking confirmation. Read more…
