TwitterFacebook

When the news is so jam-packed with chaos, uncertainty, and just generally a lot of quite miserable stuff, it’s always nice to find something reliably capable of lifting the spirits.

Carpool Karaoke does a pretty decent job of ticking this box — and 2018 was no exception.

From random celebrity cameos to important discussions about Justin Bieber’s underpants, here are some of the highlights…

1. Melissa McCarthy’s random cameo in Christina Aguilera’s episode.

Alongside the outrageous harmonies and the entertaining segment where James Corden learns how to sing in a gravelly “Fighter” voice (0:30), Christina Aguilera’s episode also features a surprise guest appearance from Melissa McCarthy (2:58).  Read more…

Ariana Grande has been perfecting her Celine Dion impression since she was a kid

TwitterFacebook

Ariana Grande is well-known for her superb Celine Dion impression, but she’s been perfecting it, Carpool Karaoke-style, from an early age.

The “thank u, next” pop star posted a clip on Instagram of her tiny toddler self singing along to the Canadian icon’s single “The Reason” in the car — and it’s almost pitch perfect.

As E! News pointed out, Dion’s track dropped in 1997, when Grande was but four years old, so she could be around this age in the clip.

Ariana Grande has another accomplishment to add to her ever-growing list: breaking YouTube

The pop singer dropped the much anticipated music video for her hit song “thank you, next” on Nov. 30, and in the process managed to overload the online video platform. Well, her devoted and passionate fanbase did, anyway.

That’s right, according to YouTube, the service was unable to handle the barrage of comments on the video after it went live — prompting someone at YouTube to compare “thank you, next” to another famous internet moment

Ariana Grande’s ‘thank u, next’ video is a perfect parody of all your favorite teen movies

TwitterFacebook

Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” already cemented itself as a 2018 banger, and the official video is a party of its own. Full of classic teen movie tropes and references to Mean Girls, Bring It On, Legally Blonde, and more.

The movie references are fun on their own, all teased by Grande on social media leading up to the video’s release, but the cameos make “thank u, next.”

From Mean Girls‘ original Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett) to Kris Jenner as a cool mom, everyone in the video is having a blast – perhaps none more so than Jennifer Coolidge recreating an entire scene of Legally Blonde with Grande as Elle Woods. Read more…

Mark Hamill and Ariana Grande share a glorious Twitter exchange over ‘Thank u, next’

TwitterFacebook

You’d think Mark Hamill was living in a galaxy far, far away. Or that he stopped following the music scene a long time ago.

The Star Wars actor just had a hilarious Twitter moment where he was blissfully unaware that he was quoting one of the most talked-about songs of the moment.

“Thank you, next,” Hamill wrote, which incidentally is both the title and the chorus of the latest song by Ariana Grande.

Although Hamill wrote “you” and not “u”, like the lyric is technically spelled, Grande was quick to pick up on what she thought was a salute to her song from Luke Skywalker himself.  Read more…
