High school baseball player comforts friend before celebrating victory

TwitterFacebook

Remember sportsmanship? Sportsmanship is good, and one young baseball player has it in spades.

Last Wednesday night in Minnesota, the Mounds View and Totino-Grace baseball teams faced off in a game that would decide which team won the sectional championship. Both teams played their best (I don’t know anything about baseball), but Mounds View, as it happened, came out on top.

After the win, the Mounds View players ran to each other to celebrate. But one player, pitcher Ty Koehn, stayed behind to hug the batter he’d just struck out — Jack Kocon, who also happens to be his childhood friend. Read more…

Fan knows just what to do after a baseball lands in her beer

TwitterFacebook

Baseball and beer go hand in hand, for sure, but a baseball in a beer? Ask lucky fan Gabby DiMarco all about it.

As MLB.com’s Cut4 reports, though DiMarco watched her home team, the San Diego Padres, suffer a loss against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday, she left the game a clear winner after a ball landed in her beer.

In a video from Petco Park – the Padres’ home stadium – we see a foul ball land right in her cup.

Naturally, she did the only thing one should do in this situation: She chugged the beer for her delighted audience.  Read more…

Red Sox pitcher may need to quit ‘Fortnite’ thanks to carpal tunnel

TwitterFacebook

David Price, one of the Boston Red Sox’s best pitchers, may need to quit playing Fortnite if he wants to keep playing baseball.

Price sat out Wednesday’s game against the New York Yankees due to an issue with his hand — not an issue you want as a starting pitcher — which turned out to be carpal tunnel syndrome. After receiving the news, Price told ESPN that he may have to quit playing the popular game Fortnite, which has taken the MLB by storm.

Although his condition may not have 100% come from Fortnite, Price is a known Fortnite player, and carpal tunnel syndrome can spring up in people who make small repetitive movements with their hands and fingers, namely typing or gaming. Read more…

Delightful Japanese mascot has its own special use for the baggage claim

TwitterFacebook

Wacky mascots need to travel too.

The Mysterious Fish, mascot of Japanese baseball team, the Chiba Lotte Marines, landed at the Honolulu Airport over the weekend. Thankfully, it was not hounded by the paparazzi and was able to procure its body from the baggage claim and slip right back inside of it.

It must have been too big for a carry on.

When it’s Halloween and all you wanna do is watch the World Series

TwitterFacebook

Cruel fate put Game 6 of an incredibly exciting World Series on the same night as Halloween.

If you were a sports fan with kids — or lived in a neighborhood full of trick-or-treaters — this was pretty much torture. Fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros, and just baseball in general were faced with some tough choices.

Some people straight-up pretended they weren’t home.
