Hollywood accusers named ‘Entertainer of the Year’ by the Associated Press

TwitterFacebook

The biggest story in entertainment this year wasn’t just one story. It was hundreds, thousands, millions of different stories connected by a single horrifying thread.

It seems only appropriate, then, that the Associated Press’ Entertainer of the Year honor should go to all the brave souls behind all those stories.

The prize, which is voted on by “members of the cooperative and AP entertainment reporters,” has gone this year to Hollywood accusers – all the people who stepped up to share their stories of being harassed, assaulted, and abused in Hollywood. Read more…

Soccer star criticised for posting blackface photo of himself

TwitterFacebook

Another day, another case of blackface.

French soccer star Antoine Griezmann has been criticised for posting a photo of himself in full blackface online for an “’80s party” online on Sunday.

Dressed as what appears to be a Harlem Globetrotters basketball player, complete with an afro wig and darkened skin, 26-year-old Griezmann received a string of angry comments about the costume.

I’m already stressed out about Griezmann’s inevitable apology saying “a lot of my best friends are black.” pic.twitter.com/0UtS3Yb7Yv

As a powerful male CEO, I didn’t believe in the gender pay gap. Then I got stuck in a well.

As a powerful male CEO, for a long time I had trouble believing in the gender pay gap.
Women make less than men to do the same job? Or, men are more likely to hold higher positions of power than women? How about more like pigs can fly now? Man,…

Kevin Spacey completely cut from his next movie

TwitterFacebook

We are swiftly learning that “isolated incident” is not a part of the narrative of sexual misconduct accusations gripping Hollywood – where there is one allegation, more are likely soon to follow.

This is not lost on Sony Pictures, which on Wednesday – the same day new groping allegations surfaced against Kevin Spacey – reportedly decided that the Oscar winner will be completely removed from his next film, All the Money in the World, and his scenes re-shot with Christopher Plummer in the not-insignificant role of J Paul Getty.

Director Ridley Scott was aiming to start re-shoots immediately, Deadline first reported, and hopes to still hit his Dec. 22 release date. That would be quite a feat indeed, considering that Spacey plays an important supporting role as the oil tycoon who negotiates with kidnappers demanding a ransom for his grandson. Read more…
