Dwayne Johnson has opened up about his experience with depression

TwitterFacebook

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has opened up about the times during his life he’s battled with depression.

The actor spoke about his mother’s suicide attempt when he was 15, which he witnessed, in a recent interview with the Express.

“I reached a point where I didn’t want to do a thing or go anywhere,” he said. “I was crying constantly.”

He went on to describe another difficult period he went through after injuries prevented him from becoming a professional footballer and his girlfriend broke up with him — something he referred to as his “absolute worst time”. Read more…

First ‘Skyscraper’ spot looks like Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Die Hard’

TwitterFacebook

When we say Dwayne Johnson’s 2018 slate looks huge, we mean that literally.

First, he’ll be running around with enormous animals in Rampage, out April 20. And then he’ll leaping through giant buildings in Skyscraper, which looks, essentially, like a beefed-up Die Hard

Johnson stars as a guy who handles security for skyscrapers. When he’s framed for setting a particular building on fire, he’s forced to go on the run, clear his name, and save his family from the building, all at the same time.

It’s a lot for any one guy to handle – but if anyone can handle the heat, it’s definitely Johnson. Right? Read more…

The Rock just totally slammed someone who had the audacity to question ‘Jumanji’

TwitterFacebook

If you dare to question The Rock on Twitter, you’d better understand that you’re just one tweet away  from getting digitally people’s elbowed into oblivion.

Still, every now and again people still try it.

On Thursday, James McMahon decided to call out the people’s champion directly. His issue? A plot point in the new Jumanji movie.

I went to see the new Jumanji. FUCK THE NEW JUMANJI. Here’s a spoiler. There is no way a character in a video game would lose a life, then be respawned still in possession of the item required to win. That’s some bullshit. What say you @TheRock? Otherwise it was quite good

Kevin Hart and The Rock traded insults for 5 minutes and things got real brutal, real fast

TwitterFacebook

There aren’t many people who would be brave enough to insult The Rock directly to his face — but Kevin Hart is clearly the exception.

In the clip above, Hart and Dawyne Johnson go head-to-head in a game of “Playground Insults” on BBC Radio 1. It’s pretty much what it sounds like: for five minutes the two trade insults back and forth, which start off fairly brutal (“Your head looks like a long breast”) and only escalate from there (“You know how sometimes people get under your skin and you just hate them?”).

Don’t worry, though: they also have a sweet, bromance-y moment at the end to make up for it. Read more…

The Rock literally takes a giant portable gym with him wherever he goes

TwitterFacebook

Ever wondered how The Rock manages to stay so shirt-rippingly huge the whole time?

Well, Bryan Cranston has. And in The Late Late Show clip above, he manages to get to the bottom of it.

“I figured the easiest thing for me to do was to create a gym and make sure that it travels with me everywhere I go,” says Dwayne Johnson, after explaining that he no longer uses public gyms.

It’s a very big effort, but hey — he’s a very big guy. Read more…

‘Jumanji’ is a great video game movie that’s not actually based on a video game

TwitterFacebook

It’s a truism that Hollywood has a terrible track record when it comes to video game movies. But it’s not entirely accurate. There are lots of great video game movies out there – they’re just not based on actual video games.

This month, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, joins films like Edge of Tomorrow and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World on the list of excellent films inspired by video games but not directly adapted from one. This one is a loose sequel to 1995’s Jumanji, which reimagines the dangerous board game as a ’90s-era video game. Read more…

‘Rampage’ trailer: Finally, a movie in which Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is the puny one

TwitterFacebook

Turns out there is a way to make Dwayne Johnson look small, and it’s by making him star alongside a CG gorilla the size of a building.

Rampage stars Johnson as a primatologist who gets wrapped up in a global catastrophe after he discovers that a rogue genetic experiment is turning normal creatures into super-sized ones.

Like his friend George, a silverback gorilla who’s grown dozens of feet in a matter of days. An enormous wolf and a gigantic crocodile are also involved. (And if that sounds familiar – yes, this is based on the Rampage video game series.) Read more…
