Who hasn’t been able to find their seat at the most inopportune moment? Everyone, that’s who.

Hell, even Kirsten Dunst has been there. And, her scramble to find her seat was caught on television for all the world to see during the Emmys.

Dunst ‘grammed a pic of herself and fiancé Jesse Plemons standing in the aisle searching for their seats while the audience was already seated.

Hannah Gadsby’s one-minute of Emmys glory stole the show

TwitterFacebook

What are jokes anyway?

A delight in an often lacklustre Emmys, Australian comedian Hannah Gadsby pretty much stole the show on Monday with her brilliantly dry, but very funny bit while handing out the Outstanding Director for a Drama Series award.

Hosting alone, Gadsby took some time to acknowledge how amazing it was to be there, with her free outfit and everything thanks to the people who didn’t quite get Nanette

Second, @Hannahgadsby‘s bit. So good! pic.twitter.com/osw9Fo8bjI

There were a few Emmys bright spots — but it sure wasn’t the hosts

Slowest Emmys? Whitest Emmys? Most romantic Emmys? The 70th Annual Emmy Awards deserve their own superlatives, but for now let’s break down the best and worst moments of the night – as well as a few that were neither here nor there.

The Mrs. Maisel sweep

Early in the night, before the telecast got awkwardly white, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel kicked things off with energizing wins for women in television and comedy, including lead actress Rachel Brosnahan and TV powerhouse Amy Sherman-Palladino, who was the first woman to win for both writing and directing in the same season.  Read more…

In another win for streaming services, Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel nabbed the 2018 Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

The show stars Golden Globe, Emmy, and Critics Choice winner Rachel Brosnahan as an upper-class 1950s housewife who discovers her talent for stand-up comedy in the wake of her divorce and was a critical darling in its first season.

Daniel Palladino, co-executive producer of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel alongside Amy Sherman-Palladino, accepted the award for the show as a whole.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won several other awards at the 2018 ceremony, including the aforementioned Best Lead Actress in a Comedy for Rachel Brosnehan, Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for Alex Borstein, and Best Directing and Best Writing for Amy Sherman-Palladino.  Read more…

Emmy winner proposes to his girlfriend on stage, and it was adorable

TwitterFacebook

Excuse me, hold up, there was a LIVE PROPOSAL during this year’s Emmy Awards.

Glenn Weiss landed the Emmy in Directing a Variety Special at the Oscars this year. He gave a heartfelt acceptance speech, explaining that the award was “bittersweet” because his mother had passed away two weeks ago.

Then, he thanked his girlfriend for her support, but clarified, “The reason I don’t like calling you my girlfriend is because I want you to be my wife.”

Cue the tears!!

When she got to the stage, he pulled out his late mother’s ring — clarifying to his siblings that his father gave him dibs on it — and got on one knee.  Read more…

Thandie Newton did that, wins Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Emmy

It’s not a stretch to say that Thandie Newton was the best part of Westworld Season 2. In a mess of befuddling plots and flashback shenanigans, her performance as the single-minded, fierce Maeve was the highlight of the show.
