A Hawai’ian singer reinvented the national anthem and it’s beautiful

TwitterFacebook

The Star-Spangled Banner has stayed the same, with the same words and the same tune for 87 years, but a Hawai’ian musician reinvented the song while performing the song at a football game in Hawai’i and left quite an impression.

The singer, who goes by Willie K., reinterpreted the national anthem by accompanying himself on the ukulele and singing the tune in an original melody of his own creation.

Isn’t it nice to hear a new spin on an old creation?

Try not to wince watching this mascot accidentally shoot himself with a T-shirt gun

TwitterFacebook

It’s probably not an awesome idea to use a T-shirt gun if you’re not absolutely sure which end the tees are meant to come out. Alas, this was the grievous mistake that led to a mascot injury last week.

The University of Colorado’s mascot Chip the Buffalo was carted off the field during a football game against the University of New Hampshire last week after shooting a T-shirt gun in the wrong direction, according to Buzzfeed.

Instead of sending a tee into the crowd as intended, he shot himself. Ouch.

Chip — well, technically the person behind the Chip costume — was then carted off the field to seek medical attention.  Read more…

NFL player finds out his ‘Madden’ character is ugly as hell

TwitterFacebook

Normally it would be a pretty cool to see yourself in a video game, but Houston Texans defensive end Christian Covington found his own digital representation to be a bit… uh… lacking.

Covington posted a photo of his character in the newly released Madden 19 Wednesday. Instead of a true-to-life model like some players get, Covington’s in-game model is really off, and honestly pretty ugly.

Guess I have to accept the fact that I’m ugly now…. Say it ain’t so Madden…. smh pic.twitter.com/fTcmitdrEw

Free beer! But wait, this smart fridge only opens if Cleveland Browns win.

TwitterFacebook

Cleveland Browns fans have been suffering for a long, long time.

Not only did the team go winless last season, but its last win was back in 2016 when they narrowly beat the San Diego Chargers in Week 16.

In recognition of this despair, a “Victory Fridge” full of free Bud Light beer has been installed in bars around Cleveland that will open when, or if, the Browns win this season.

You’ve stood by us through it all. We love you for it, and so does @budlight.

These special fridges will unlock celebratory beers when we get our first regular season “W”.#VictoryFridge pic.twitter.com/LgsGNabMpt
