The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences seems to know just how unpopular its proposal last month for an “outstanding achievement in popular film” Oscar category has been.
And it’s doing a hard reverse.

All of your favorite black luminaries assembled for one powerful post-Oscars pic
Some of the best moments of the Academy Awards are not captured by television cameras or red carpet pics. They happen after the show is over, in the throes of various parties—like Elton John’s annual post-Oscars celebration, or the mysterious Beyoncé and Jay-Z bash we keep hearing about.
Before making their way there however, almost every celebrity first stops by the legendary Vanity Fair party and has their photograph taken in an decadent mini-studio session. This year was no different—except courtesy of VF, photographer Mark Seliger blessed us all by assembling an iconic photograph featuring all your favorite black luminaries. Read more…

Daniel Kaluuya’s effortless Oscar glow was mostly thanks to Daniel Kaluuya. But, as is the case with everything good, you can also partially thank Rihanna.
According to a tweet from Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty, Kaluuya wore two shades of the brand’s Pro Filt’r foundation to the Academy Awards on Sunday. And makeup artist Amber Amos blended that foundation to perfection.

‘Coco’ songwriter Robert Lopez just became the first person ever to complete a double EGOT
You know what’s sweeter than winning an EGOT? Winning two EGOTs.
Or so we assume. Only one person would actually know what it feels like to pull off a double EGOT – that is, two wins each from the Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, and Tonys – and that’s Frozen songwriter Robert Lopez.
Lopez completed the feat at Sunday’s Academy Awards, where he picked up a Best Original Song win (with Kristen Anderson-Lopez, his frequent collaborator and wife) for “Remember Me” from Coco.
He collected his first EGOT in 2014, when he scored his first Best Original Song win for “Let It Go” from Frozen. At the time, he was only the 12th person ever to win an EGOT, and the fastest EGOT winner in history – it took him just 10 years to get from the first prize to the fourth. Read more…

Speaking to Mashable live on Facebook on Monday, Vikander — who is starring in the upcoming adaptation of Tomb Raider — talked about the effect the campaign is having on people in the industry.
“I was there with Time’s Up presenting at the Golden Globes and I found myself, in the weeks leading up to that, in more discussions and more phonecalls with actresses, writers, directors — females that I have, sadly, just kind of been pushed far away from in the industry,” said Vikander. Remember the Meryl Streep shouting meme? Of course you do.
This time last year, it was everywhere.
Here’s just one glorious reminder:

For whatever reason, that old photo of Streep taken at the 2015 SAG Awards rapidly entered meme territory in early 2017.
And now, following the 2018 Oscars on Sunday, it’s made an important comeback.
