No one knows what the Marvel Cinematic Universe will look like once the Disney acquisition of Fox properties is complete, but this takes one possible stumbling block out of the mix.

Legion, an X-Men spin-off series on FX that exists outside the MCU, is set to end after its third season, which kicks off in June, concludes. FX CEO John Landgraf confirmed the news on Monday at the Television Critics Association press tour, noting that this was always the plan.

“[Series creator] Noah Hawley had always considered Legion to be a three-season show … and he has confirmed that he’s going to stick with his plan,” Landgraf said, per TVLine. “This will be the final season.” Read more…

TwitterFacebook

Spoilers for American Horror Story: Apocalypse lie ahead.

So, we’ve got chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, and something something about “Yuletide carols”? Ugh, disgusting.

With the killer finale of American Horror Story: Apocalypse finally aired, it’s safe to say 2018’s Halloween season has come to a close—and for us goblins and ghouls still clutching our moldy pumpkins, that pretty well sucks.

But never fear, spooky friends. All Hallow’s Eve will come again and with it AHS will return for not only a Season 9, but also a Season 10.

FX conjures up anthology series described as feminist ‘Black Mirror’

What’s that? The Handmaid’s Tale isn’t dark enough for you?

After negotiating through what Deadline is calling a “competitive situation,” FX has won the rights to adapt Carmen Maria Machado’s Her Body and Other Parties into a televised anthology series.

And that’s great news for people seeking out their next bout of nightmares.

The feminist short story collection has been described by its publishing house Gray Wolf Press as a collection of “narratives that map the realities of women’s lives and the violence visited upon their bodies.”

From horrific re-imaginings of Law & Order: SVU to the disturbing observations of a woman who can hear porn actors’ thoughts, Machado’s tellings have gained a reputation for their unnerving depictions of femininity and fairy tales.  Read more…

FX boss says Donald Glover’s ‘Deadpool’ series was deep-sixed by Marvel

TwitterFacebook

It’s been a few months since it was announced that Donald Glover’s heavily-anticipated Deadpool animated TV series, to be produced for FX, was being shelved. But we finally have a few more details about why that came to be, thanks to FX chief John Landgraf.

Landgraf, the CEO of FX, was speaking at the Television Critics Association (TCA) summer press tour on Saturday when he put the blame squarely on MarvelPer The A.V. Club, Landgraf said:

Well, then.

This is as specific a reason as we’ve heard since the March news that the show wasn’t happening and that the three entities — Glover, Marvel, and FX — were parting ways. It’s a bit of a sensitive situation since this triangle has a few other relationships ongoing: Marvel and FX work together on Legion and, of course, Glover and FX have had huge success with Atlanta.
