‘Game of Thrones’ comes to theaters to distract you from the long wait for Season 8

TwitterFacebook

We still don’t know when the final season of Game of Thrones will air, which means we have plenty of time to revisit all the big twists of Season 7 while we wait.

HBO plans to distract us from our clock-watching with eight fan screenings taking place in three cities (New York, Chicago and Los Angeles) this winter, with the most action-packed episode of Season 7 getting the big screen treatment.

In episode 4, “The Spoils of War,” Daenerys brings her dragons and Dothraki hordes to Westeros for the first time in a stunning attack against Jaime Lannister’s forces, and you know you want to see Drogon and Dany laying waste to the Lannister army on the biggest screen possible.  Read more…

‘Game of Thrones’ murderous Red Wedding banger gets a beautiful dance treatment

TwitterFacebook

Game of Thrones and its music have gotten plenty of covers, from violins and vocals to instrumentals from around the world, and at least one kooky Kanye mashup… but we haven’t seen as much dancing – until now. Dancers Geatali Tampy and Priya Lupita Shah teamed up to perform a haunting duet to “The Rains of Castamere” – you know, that murderous Lannister banger from the Red Wedding.

The video, filmed by Alvin Alex, opens on Shah and Tampy as sisters in the North (we’d recognize those cloaks anywhere), inseparable until Shah receives a mysterious scroll. Tampy goes snooping (classic Arya) and finds out that the Lannisters want one sister to betray the other. Read more…

Top HBO executive sues TV Academy for nasty fall on the Emmys red carpet

TwitterFacebook

The latest HBO drama may not have dragons, but it sure has a big budget.

Nancy Lesser, a high-ranking HBO executive, has filed a $1 million civil lawsuit over a nasty fall she took on the 2016 Emmys Red Carpet.

Worst of all? She’s suing the TV Academy (as well as the City of Los Angeles and Anshultz Entertainment Group), an organization staffed by peers and friends who honored many of the network’s shows that very night. While that doesn’t reach Red Wedding levels by any means, there’s plenty of sticks and stones (and broken bones) in the lawsuit, obtained by Mashable

Lesser’s claim, filed Nov. 15 in Los Angeles Superior Court, tells of a night filled with glamor and stars “dressed for the fashion of the day, including women with high heels, and some with extremely high heels.” But all of it came crashing down when the conditions of the red carpet (from the Microsoft Theater to the Governor’s Ball at Gilbert Lindsay Plaza) led to her stepping a dirt hole in the concrete and smashing her hip on the sidewalk. Please stop applauding Louis C.K. for doing the bare minimum

TwitterFacebook

Well, it looks like the Louis C.K. apologists have at least pivoted to a different tactic than simply labeling accusers liars, after the comedian finally admitted to the sexual misconduct he’s been disparaging as mere “rumor” for five years (and as recently as two months ago).

Within mere hours of C.K. issuing his statement, the internet fell over itself to commend him for the brave act of finally admitting he is, in fact, a sexual harasser and feels bad about it — now that there’s a New York Times story about it, anyway.

And as C.K. fans (and even some of his critics) pat him on the back for doing the literal least he could by not lying anymore, some conservatives continue to make excuses for Roy Moore, the former Alabama judge and U.S. Senate candidate accused of initiating a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl when he was 32. HBO cuts Louis C.K. from charity telecast and on-demand services in wake of harassment allegations

TwitterFacebook

HBO is severing ties with Louis C.K. following a New York Times report that the comedian sexually harassed five women, with allegations spanning back to the late ’90s.

The premium cable network has confirmed that it has cut C.K. from its Night of Too Many Stars charity telecast, an annual event which raises funds for autism services. HBO also announced that it will be pulling the comedian’s stand-up specials and previous TV series — including Lucky Louie — from its on-demand platforms.

“Louis C.K. will no longer be participating in the Night of Too Many Stars: America Unites for Autism Programs, which will be presented live on HBO on November 18,” an HBO spokesperson said, per Variety. “In addition, HBO is removing Louis C.K.’s past projects from its On Demand services.” Read more…

What if a mystery TV series let you decide to follow one character’s story to the end, or jump between characters as the action unfolds?
