Queen Elizabeth II posts her first ever Instagram post and it’s pretty special

TwitterFacebook

Queen Elizabeth II just took to Instagram for the very first time to publish her first grid post.

This was no ordinary ‘gram. Her Majesty chose something of deep personal significance for her first post on the Royal Family Instagram grid.

“Today, as I visit the Science Museum I was interested to discover a letter from the Royal Archives, written in 1843 to my great-great-grandfather Prince Albert,” wrote the Queen.

“Charles Babbage, credited as the world’s first computer pioneer, designed the ‘Difference Engine,’ of which Prince Albert had the opportunity to see a prototype in July 1843.” Read more…

Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ gets the most perfect ‘Line Rider’ music video

Line Rider may be a relic of the old internet, but there’s still a popular scene of content-makers crowding around it. That’s mainly because of its powerful built-in level creation tool, and the ease of setting one of these creations to music.

Your crush Rami Malek just won an Oscar

TwitterFacebook

Bohemian Rhapsody star and category frontrunner Rami Malek is officially taking home the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 2019 Academy Awards.

Malek’s portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury earned him the accolade Sunday night, as well as the titles of Best Actor at the BAFTAs and Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes earlier this awards season.

“Thank you, Queen. Thank you guys for allowing me to be the tiniest part of your phenomenal, extraordinary legacy. I am forever in your debt,” Malek said, during his emotional acceptance speech.

“This is a monumental moment. I am so appreciative to all of you,” Malek added. “We made a film about a gay man, an immigrant who lived his life unapologetically as himself. The fact that I’m celebrating him and this story with you tonight is proof that we’re longing for stories like this.” Read more…

Hostless Oscars kick off with a performance by Queen

TwitterFacebook

It’s a strange year for our friend Oscar, marooned without a host, and instead of opting for a replacement, the telecast kicked off in a whole new manner.

The Oscars opened with a performance by Queen (with Adam Lambert, who has toured with the band for years), whose songs and story defined Best Picture nominee Bohemian Rhapsody.

The audience of A-listers sang along enthusiastically, because even a room full of people who probably voted for vastly different Oscar movies can all stan Queen.

Okay one second in and the oscars are already lit.

Queen rockstar unleashes badass space song about mysterious world of Ultima Thule

TwitterFacebook

Queen rocker Brian May used to beg his parents to stay up late, so he could learn about the stars.

Now six decades later, the guitar legend turned astrophysicist has released an arena rock song composed for both the farthest away object humanity has ever visited — Ultima Thule — and the spacecraft sent to scour this distant world, NASA’s New Horizons probe.

“This mission is about human curiosity — the need for mankind to go out there and explore what makes the universe tick,” May said Monday at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Maryland, site of the New Horizons headquarters.

“I hope you will enjoy it,” added May, who released the song two minutes after midnight local time, during the first minutes of the 2019. “I hope it’s worthy of this amazing cause.”  Read more…
