Lady Gaga, Spike Lee, and other Oscar nominees face off on ‘SNL’ Family Feud

This may be a game show parody rather than the actual thing, but it’s got one notable advantage over February’s Academy Awards show: there’s a host.

Kenan Thompson revived his effortless Steve Harvey impression for another episode of Celebrity Family Feud: Oscars Edition. This one pit the Hollywood old guard — Spike Lee (Don Cheadle), Glenn Close (Kate McKinnon), Sam Elliott (Beck Bennett), and Olivia Coleman (Cecily Strong) — against a bunch of noobs, plus Bradley Cooper (Kyle Mooney).

The best thing about this bit? Melissa Villaseñor’s transformative Lady Gaga impression. Read more…

Donald Trump and Roger Stone get big laughs in the latest ‘SNL’ Weekend Update

TwitterFacebook

It was a big week in U.S. politics. Donald Trump’s temper tantrum-fueled partial shutdown of the government came to an end, for one. And Roger Stone, a longtime Trump ally and adviser, because the latest figure in the president’s orbit to be indicted.

I’m starting to think this Trump guy might have done some crimes at some point. But I digress.

Those two nuclear news items — the government re-opening and the fall of Stone — dominated an entire Weekend Update segment on Saturday Night Live. Inherently funny stuff. Steve Martin is Roger Stone in a hilarious ‘SNL’ cold open roast of Fox News

One thing is increasingly clear anytime Saturday Night Live uses Fox News as a platform for laughs: the Rupert Murdoch network’s pro-Trump, anti-progressive approach is so dogmatic and over the top, it’s virtually impossible to parody. A jokey ne…

Trump’s shutdown becomes a ‘Deal or No Deal’ gamble on ‘Saturday Night Live’

On Saturday afternoon, Donald Trump tried yet again to make the case that his $5.7 billion U.S.-Mexico border wall is worth holding up paychecks for hundreds of thousands of federal employees. Hours later, Saturday Night Live turned the whole rid…
