Asking celebrities for a selfie can be a tricky thing. You have to pick the situation carefully. Some of them don’t like to be bothered in certain situations, and others — understandably — just don’t like to be bothered.

If you want an example of what absolutely not to do, though, just listen to Gwendoline Christie’s story about the selfie request she received while in the bathroom of a restaurant.

Our parents’ generation may have many talents, but the fine art of selfie-taking is clearly not one of them.

Just look at the adorable pair in this clip, posted on Twitter by Mike Keelan with the inevitable caption: “So my mum and dad tried to take a selfie”.

Well, they didn’t quite manage to get that selfie, but they did manage to net Mike a solid 1500 retweets.

So they can be proud of that, at least.

So, the iPhone X is in people’s hands now, and with it, the uber-high-resolution and incredible detail of its very good selfie camera. 

So good, in fact, that some of the people using it are slightly horrified.

The iPhone X comes with Apple’s brand new TrueDepth camera on the front, which shoots selfies using a 7-megapixel camera and employs an infrared camera to capture the nuanced depth features in faces. It’s shockingly better than any other front-facing mobile camera available.

Every year, more than six million people pay Mona Lisa a visit at the Louvre in Paris, and most of them snap a picture or two. 

Using strictly photographs found on Instagram, Daniel McKee created a hilarious film that explores the universal obsession we have with documenting our experiences. But don’t feel too guilty if you’ve faced the Mona Lisa and snapped a photo—clearly you’re not alone. 

The music accompanying the short video is by Isaac Stern.
