I would happily ditch the selfie camera for a full-screen phone

Once a month or so, I’m reminded that my phone has a front-facing camera when I accidentally hit the toggle button, only to be greeted with a closeup image of my own, dumb face. Honestly, I can’t remember the the last time I used the thing — not intentionally, at least. I tried scrolling through […]

Your selfie game is about to get a major boost from this motorized smartphone mount

TwitterFacebook

Forget selfie sticks. There’s now a more efficient and socially acceptable way of taking photos, and it comes in the form of Picbot. It’s a motorized smartphone mount that utilizes face tracking technology to help you capture next-level pictures and videos — or finally live out your dreams of becoming a YouTube sensation.

Successfully funded on Kickstarter, Picbot puts an end to all your smartphone photography and videography dilemmas. It has built-in facial tracking software and 360-degree auto-rotation, which makes it capable of following your face even when you’re in motion, allowing you to get the perfect exposure every single time. You can use it to film vlogs, take outfit shots, record a makeup tutorial, take panoramas and time-lapse snaps, and more. You can even invite your squad to take photos and videos with you, as it can track up to three faces at the same time. Best of all, it has a Still Motion Capture feature, which means that it won’t start shooting unless you or your group are all in the frame. Read more…

Heads up: All products featured here are selected by Mashable’s commerce team and meet our rigorous standards for awesomeness. If you buy something, Mashable may earn an affiliate commission.

Think of all the times you wanted to snap a full-length photo to capture your #OOTD but couldn’t because no one was around to take it.

Sure, mirror selfies are okay, but most of us don’t always want our phones in the shot.

A few years back, we flocked to selfie sticks to snap photos of ourselves from a distance, but, if you haven’t noticed, the selfie stick trend is all but dead (unless of course, you’re a tourist or something).  Read more…

Selfie Olympics are back and they’re even more intense in 2018

TwitterFacebook

In the winter of 2014, the world gathered for an international competition that would push each nation’s best minds to the limit.

No, it wasn’t the Olympics in Sochi — it was Twitter’s Selfie Olympics, and they’re back just in time to align with 2018’s Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Twitter user @Bradleysanborn brought back the #selfieolympics hashtag with his post of bizarre mirror selfies, featuring him biking in the shower and cooking penis shaped pancakes in his bathroom.

North and South Korean Olympic athletes are taking selfies together to show unity

TwitterFacebook

The next time you’re thinking of mocking people who take selfies, think of this moment.

As North and South Koreans join forces to compete in the Pyeongchang Olympics, the players have shared locker rooms and practice space. So far it looks like things have run smoothly for the divided nations — if the selfies are any indication.

First, the entire unified Korean team snapped a picture, although only five of them were actually looking at the camera (classic). The athletes are wearing blue and white, the colors of the Korean unification flag.  Read more…

The mystery of the guy with 2 phones behind selfie kid at the Super Bowl

TwitterFacebook

When 13-year-old Ryan McKenna tried to take a selfie with Justin Timberlake during the Super Bowl halftime show, he instantly became a meme.

Twitter was flooded with pictures and GIFs of McKenna on his phone during the performance, while Justin Timberlake danced only a few inches away.

But look a little closer at that selfie and you’ll see something else.

Our @GMA team at #SuperBowl52 has obtained the selfie from the selfie kid #PepsiHalftime pic.twitter.com/xuY5PAHuO4

Behold: You can now see selfie kid’s Justin Timberlake selfies

TwitterFacebook

The star of the Super Bowl halftime show was not Justin Timberlake, but rather the unsuspecting, cell phone-obsessed teen he happened upon in the audience during his performance.

After fumbling around with his phone instead of enjoying a Grammy-winning pop star in his presence, 13-year-old Ryan McKenna successfully managed to capture a perfect selfie with Timberlake.

Though the Super Bowl is over, the epic selfies will live on for eternity.

Please enjoy:
