Trump shares SOTU parody which turns Democrats into cry babies like a very real president

TwitterFacebook

Donald Trump is back at it again with the extremely un-presidential tweets.

On Friday afternoon, hours after he held a press conference outside the White House to announce he was declaring a national emergency (even though he didn’t need to) the president tweeted a parody State of the Union video in an effort to mock Democrats.

The video, originally created by @carpedonktum, shows clips of Democratic members of Congress at Trump’s State of the Union address set to that super emo R.E.M. song, “Everybody Hurts.”

The 2:20 video was posted to YouTube earlier this month and received more than 50,000 views, but it seems Trump just noticed — and it must have really spoken to him. Read more…

Stephen Colbert skewers Trump’s use of rhyming in his State of the Union address

TwitterFacebook

It’s been 24 hours, so we’ve all had a little time to reflect on Donald Trump’s State of the Union address — including Stephen Colbert.

The Late Show host destroyed Trump’s speech one clip at a time immediately afterward on Tuesday, but on Wednesday night, he looped back to pick up one particular feature of Trump’s speech: rhyming.

“If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation,” Trump had said, referring to special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

“That’s kinda cute. He threatened our democracy with a little poem,” Colbert said, before composing his own limerick: Read more…

Stacey Abrams united liberals and the left on Twitter. For a minute.

TwitterFacebook

It’s 2019 in the real world, and 2016 on Twitter.

Not a day has gone by since Clinton lost to Trump where folks on Twitter weren’t re-litigating the 2016 Democratic primary election. One day, liberals will be accusing Bernie Sanders of being a knowing “chaos agent” in the 2016 election. Other days, Clinton voters are subjected to an onslaught of tweets about how they chose their candidate only because they thought she was electable — not because they actually, you know, liked her.

It’s a toxic, highly polarized platform, even among people who are supposed to have shared democratic ideals in common. But on Tuesday night, Stacey Abrams’ post-SOTU rebuttal helped to forge a temporary, unconscious alliance between liberals and the left on Twitter. No one would admit it, of course. Read more…

Watch the 2019 State of the Union address here (or not)

It’s that time again — time to hear what kind of state our precious union is in. For those of you inclined to watch the temporarily delayed speech by the President, you can of course watch it in a bar and invent your own drinking game, but you can also stay home and watch it on YouTube or C-SPAN. The drinks are cheaper — and stronger.

Stephen Colbert breaks down where we’re at with Trump’s State of the Union address

Hillary Clinton returns to ‘SNL’ with State of the Union advice for Melania Trump

You all saw Melania Trump on the night of Donald Trump’s State of the Union address (or hey, maybe you didn’t). She didn’t look so happy, did she? Maybe it’s because she was listening to the advice of some voices from the past.

Yes, this is the front page of the Washington Post after Trump’s speech

During his first State of the Union speech, Donald Trump characterized immigrants as violent gang members, pushed for more nukes, and vilified athletes who protest police brutality.

But that’s not what people who pick up the Washington Post on Wednesday morning will think.

Instead, they’ll see this headline:

People who saw Trump’s speech were, um, a little confused. Apparently, the fact that Donnie didn’t rip off his shirt and scream “MAGA!” in Nancy Pelosi’s face was very “presidential.”  Read more…

Here are the pissiest faces from Trump’s State of the Union

On Tuesday night, Donald Trump gave his first official State of the Union speech, and not everyone in attendance was thrilled.

Whether because of his bombastic tweets, his policies, or just, you know, him, many people — mostly opposing Democrats — had quite a few sour expressions throughout the night as Trump’s hour-plus speech unfolded.

At the State of the Union, Trump touts tax cuts and immigration deal

With a president as mercurial as Trump, it was anyone’s guess what would happen during his first State of the Union address. The appearance is the president’s most high profile public speaking moment of the year and Trump was expected to touch on some of the issues of the moment, including funding for a border wall, infrastructure and an immigration deal. While less likely if… Read More
