The Good Place is a show that thrives on its twists and turns, but have you ever wondered how the whole thing is going to end?

Well, Kristen Bell knows. In the interview above with Conan O’Brien, she reveals that creator Mike Schur actually told her.

The problem? She’s forgotten.

“I got two kids guys, that’s like, a lot of work!” Bell protests in the clip above. “He told me, last year he’s like, ‘This is how I’m gonna wrap it up, yeah, that’s the right idea’ — and it has exited my brain.” Read more…

They say that art imitates life, but in this case they definitely got it the wrong way round.

On Sunday night, a multitude of Hollywood stars walked the red carpet for the Golden Globes. E’s live feed was there to capture it all.

When The Good Place star Jameela Jamil arrived, though, people noticed something a little strange.

Yep: someone captioned Jamil with the name Kamilah Al-Jamil, which is actually the name of her Good Place character Tahani’s sister (played by Rebecca Hazlewood) — the same sister who is constantly one-upping Tahani in the show. Read more…

‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ is another testament to the brilliance of Mike Schur

TwitterFacebook

The frenzy over Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s cancelation at Fox and subsequent pickup by NBC may have caught some corners of the industry off guard. But it shouldn’t have.

Creator Mike Schur, who is currently helming The Good Place and also worked on The Office and Parks and Recreation, is one of the most beloved names working in television comedy today, with good reason. And Brooklyn Nine-Nine is part of his tradition of joyful, sentimental, and down-to-earth comedies.

The power of the Schur comedy is that, even while watching the Brooklyn Nine-Nine protagonist go to prison or The Good Place characters get tortured for all eternity, the audience rarely feels anxious or hopeless. These shows are beacons of light in a depressed TV and news landscape.  Read more…

Heaven’s AI is named Janet, and she’s way smarter than Alexa

TwitterFacebook

Spoiler alert: This post contains spoilers regarding Janet from The Good Place, but it avoids other big plot points.

In heaven, everyone shares an omniscient personal assistant named Janet. At least that’s the case in the hit NBC show The Good Place, which follows the journey of a woman who mistakenly ends up on the wrong side of the afterlife.

Janet, played by D’Arcy Carden, is reminiscent of the digital assistants we have today and has traits robotics experts are striving to include in the artificial intelligence of the future.

Sure, some of Janet’s features are completely magical: If you want jalapeño poppers, she can make them appear out of thin air. This is supposed to be heaven, after all. But, just as we do on Earth, in the Good Place, people struggle with ethical issues when it comes to social robots like Janet. Read more…
