New ‘Walking Dead’ mobile game has a killer social element, but fairly pointless AR
After a solid week of playing The Walking Dead: Our World, the new AR-optional mobile game set in the world of AMC’s The Walking Dead, I can solidly say that I would 100% survive the zombie apocalypse…but only if I was there with my friends.
While Our World can be played by oneself, it has a strong and unique emphasis on partnering with famous characters from the show and squadding up with strangers to take on the full force of a zombie-infested wasteland.
The premise of the game is simple, but the execution is not. On its face, The Walking Dead: Our World is an Ingress/Pokémon Go style game where a real-world map of a player’s surroundings is transformed into a post-apocalyptic landscape riddled with supply crates, walker encounters, and player-built shelters that serve as drop off points for survivors. It’s official: Season 9 will be Andrew Lincoln’s last season on The Walking Dead.
Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes on The Walking Dead, confirmed at Comic-Con Friday that he will be leaving the series after more than eight years as the show’s lead.
“This will be my last season playing the part of Rick Grimes,” Lincoln said at Friday’s Walking Dead panel at Comic-Con. “I love this show. It means everything to me. I love the people who made this show. I promise not to cry. I’ve done enough crying onscreen.”
Rumors began swirling about Lincoln’s departure back in May when Collider reported that Lincoln would only be around for six episodes of Season 9, which is set to premiere in October. The news of Lincoln’s departure comes not long after series mainstay Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) left the series during Season 8 in February. Read more…

Florida isn’t actually being invaded by zombies, despite emergency alert
Though Florida makes headlines for all sorts of fun and bizarre reasons, seeing the Sunshine State at the genesis of the zombie apocalypse is a turn of events you might not expect. Or, okay, maybe you would expect that.
Thankfully, there are no real zombies lurking in Florida. Rather, it was a false alert sent during a power outage that alerted the citizens of Lake Worth to zombies in the area.

As the finale of The Walking Dead Season 8 approaches, the star of the series Andrew Lincoln has offered some clues into how the 16th episode will be going down on April 15.
Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, told Entertainment Weekly Tuesday that the finale is going to be huge, as it looks like several storylines are going to be wrapping up in the next two episodes. Not just that, but it’s going to be a bit “unusual.”
“I would say this is a smorgasbord,” Lincoln told EW. “I think you’ve got everything in this one. It’s quite an unusual structure, but it’s very emotional, I hope, because that’s what I felt [while filming]. It’s epic.” Read more…

Let’s face it — March Madness is complicated and very stressful, if you’re into, you know, sports.
For the rest of us, March Madness consists of 21 very normal days. We have no interest in learning and probably don’t care much about basketball. However, the idea of choosing and seeing your pick win, well, it might not be so bad after all.
Of course the internet didn’t waste any time. Many created their own brackets, from famous rappers to mathematicians.
It goes to show the challenge can be for everyone, even non-sports fans. Read more…
