Oprah’s Golden Globes speech has us all begging her to run for president

TwitterFacebook

We knew Sunday’s Golden Globes would be an emotional affair, but we didn’t expect it to kick off Oprah’s political career.

Now, to be fair, when Oprah Winfrey gave her extremely moving speech upon accepting the Cecil B.  DeMille award, she didn’t explicitly say that she would run for president in 2020. But as she imparted hope, wisdom, and the promise of a brighter future, that didn’t stop many people from wishing she would.

Actually, scratch that. Many people just decided to believe that she’s running and leaving it at that.

And who can blame them.

Natalie Portman calls out the Globes’ ‘all-male’ best director nominees from the stage

TwitterFacebook

Natalie Portman is done pretending not to notice the gender disparity in Hollywood filmmaking.

While on stage at the Golden Globes, Portman called out the industry with a single well-placed word.

Portman went on stage with Ron Howard, who announced that they were here to present the award for Golden Globes.

“And here are the all-male nominees,” said Portman.

Male stars will also wear black to the Golden Globes to protest sexual misconduct in Hollywood

TwitterFacebook

The red carpet will go black at this year’s Golden Globes – and it’s not stopping with the women.

Weeks ago, we learned that many actresses planned to wear black to this year’s ceremony, as a sign of protest against the industry’s sexual abuse epidemic. As it turns out, though, men will be getting in on the action as well.

Stylist Ilaria Urbinati announced on Instagram (via People) that her male clients – which include Dwayne Johnson, Tom Hiddleston, Armie Hammer, and Garrett Hedlund – will also wear black in solidarity with their female colleagues. Read more…
