Watch Natalie Portman’s stirring “Power of Women” speech

TwitterFacebook

On Friday evening, Natalie Portman delivered a stirring speech at Variety’s “Power of Women” event that resonated beyond the audience as video of the speech spread across the internet, delivering the message of “Time’s Up.”

Beginning with a blistering condemnation of Harvey Weinstein — “Harvey Weinstein, the man whose name has become synonymous with ‘serial rapist,’ might never suffer any legal consequences” — Portman transitioned to a discussion on the lack of gender parity in the entertainment industry and beyond.

Watch Natalie Portman just barely keep her cool while eating extremely spicy wings

TwitterFacebook

Natalie Portman is usually queen of keeping her composure (unless she’s rapping on Saturday Night Live). Even as she stares down 10 vegan wings doused in the spiciest of hot sauces, Portman barely breaks a sweat and manages to complete the infamous challenge with grace (though, spoiler alert, she does cry a bit).

As the latest guest on First We Feast’s “Hot Ones,” Portman talks about the human, animal and environmental impact of factory farming — all topics covered in her upcoming documentary, Eating Animals. She also reminisces about her dance lessons with Soulja Boy, the New Years party she threw with Britney Spears one year, and her wild time at Harvard University. Read more…

Natalie Portman replies to Mark Hamill’s tweet about her, totally wants to meet him

Natalie Portman may play Mark Hamill’s mom in Star Wars, but they have never actually met IRL. Mark Hamill tweeted about it just the other week, in fact. And now Portman wants to set things right.
“Mark, I’d love to meet ya,” she said on The Late…

Mark Hamill dropped the best truth about his ‘Star Wars’ mom, Natalie Portman, on Twitter

TwitterFacebook

Mark Hamill added to his delightful string of Star Wars stories on Saturday when he shared the startling fact that he’s never met his mother.

Well, his Star Wars mother to be exact.

As the official Star Wars Twitter account shared birthday wishes for actress Natalie Portman, who portrayed Padmé Amidala, mother to Luke and Leia, in the Star Wars prequels, Hamill remarked that he had never actually met the actress in real life.

FUN FACT: I’ve never met this womanhttps://t.co/YYIFku1CVQ

Natalie Portman ‘very much’ regrets signing Roman Polanski petition

TwitterFacebook

Back in 2009, film industry luminaries signed a petition to release Roman Polanski from a Swiss prison — and now one star is regretting it.

The filmmaker had been detained over a 1977 underage sex case from the U.S., which he plead guilty to. One of the petition’s signatories was Natalie Portman, who told BuzzFeed she “very much” regrets putting her name on it.

“I take responsibility for not thinking about it enough. Someone I respected gave it to me, and said, ‘I signed this. Will you too?’ And I was like, sure. It was a mistake,” she told the news outlet. Read more…

Hilarious cut ‘SNL’ sketch showcases dolls for dark, dramatic children

One of Saturday Night Live’s cut sketches from this past weekend’s episode with Natalie Portman was hilariously dark: a satirical advertisement for My Little Step Children dolls.
The dolls are not for normal kids. They are for kids who have a pen…

‘Stranger Things 3’ sneak peek on ‘SNL’ is all about fart jokes and horny pre-teens

TwitterFacebook

We might not actually see Stranger Things Season 3 until 2019, but Saturday Night Live has an early look at what’s coming up next for Eleven and her imminently pubescent pal, Mike Wheeler.

This sketch channels what was arguably the worst episode of the series — the one where Eleven ventures off, discovers punk rock, and meets up with others like her — as a platform for introducing an increasingly lame series of powers and their side effects.

We all know Eleven can move stuff with her mind, but she gets tiny nosebleeds afterward. Not so dissimilar from the man who can start fires by thinking about it, but he throws up a little in his mouth whenever he does; or the woman who can read minds, but she farts whenever she does. Read more…

Natalie Portman takes on Tide Pods in latest ‘SNL’ rap

TwitterFacebook

She may be a mom now, but Natalie Portman spits fire as hot as ever.

Reimagining the viral Lonely Planet digital short from her last SNL hosting stint in 2006, Portman dropped some sick game – rapping about her not-ballerino husband Benjamin Millepied, and GenZ’s favorite pastime, snacking on Tide Pods.

“It sounds like you’re almost exactly the same but with current references,” Beck Bennett says, filling in the interview chair for 06’s Chris Parnell.

“Do you find it difficult juggling kids and a career?” he asks.

“You can juggle these nuts,” Portman responds.

Okay, then.

Keeping up with the theme of the evening, former Saturday Night Live mainstay and Lonely Planet cofounder Andy Samberg made a cameo in the video, dressed in the same inexplicable Viking costume as in Natalie Raps Part I. Only this time, he has a present for her. Read more…

People think Millie Bobby Brown is a doppelgänger for young Natalie Portman

TwitterFacebook

If there are two photos of different celebrities in which the two look even vaguely similar, you had better believe the internet will pounce on it.

The latest subjects of this social media-based doppelgänger obsession are Millie Bobby Brown and young Natalie Portman, as perfectly demonstrated by this tweet:

Guillermo Del Toro loved Natalie Portman’s ‘all-male’ director joke

TwitterFacebook

Natalie Portman used her stage time at Sunday’s Golden Globes to call out the gender inequality of directing in Hollywood, and The Shape of Water director Guillermo del Toro loved it.

Del Toro – whose took the stage just seconds later to receive a directing award for The Shape of Water – told IndieWire that he loved his introduction.

“I think it was great!” he said. “She should say exactly what she feels. There is phenomenal work being done by female directors.”

Del Toro named some of the year’s outstanding female directors, including Wonder Woman‘s Patty Jenkins, Lady Bird‘s Greta Gerwig (whose film won Best Picture, Musical or Comedy), and Mudbound‘s Dee Rees. Read more…
