Commuter starts petition to move Holland Tunnel’s infuriating holiday decorations
You ever see something mildly infuriating but manage to breeze past it?
Imagine breezing past it every day, five days a week. And instead of breezing past it, you’re stuck in bumper to bumper traffic during rush hour. This mildly infuriating decor oversight looms overhead, filling you with pure rage as it taunts you with terrible design until you finally snap.
The Holland Tunnel connecting New York and New Jersey has its fair share of issues, but the most egregious of all is the halfhearted holiday decorations. The Port Authority placed a festive wreath over the O — which makes total sense. It also placed a wreath over the U in a somewhat uncomfortable but understandable balance. Read more…

Facebook collections are now shareable and collaborative
Facebook is rolling out a brand new sharing feature just in time for the holidays.
In a blog post on Tuesday, Facebook announced a brand new feature that allows users to share collections with family and friends. Not only are they now shareable, but anyone who share them with can also add to the collection.
Collections are a bit reminiscent of Twitter Moments or even social bookmarking tools of the earlier internet like Delicious. For example, users can save links or images from their favorite home decor Facebook pages and curate them into a collection of furniture they’d like for a room they’re redecorating. Read more…

Perhaps there is a person in your life for whom finding a gift is a little … intimidating. They’re super picky, they’re detail-oriented, and, frankly, they hate a bunch of stuff.
Congrats! You know a snob.
Fortunately, there are affordable gifts out there that even the snobbiest of snobs will enjoy. Design snobs, coffee snobs, wellness snobs, people with pretensions of all sorts — you can make it happen for them. They might even smile.
A few ideas:
1A semi-fancy candle
Voluspa is not the fanciest candle brand, but anyone who’s walked into an Anthropologie, smelled everything, and then left knows it’s a little bit fancy. Read more…

Do you love that warm, fuzzy feeling you get from seeing your loved ones light up when they receive a thoughtful gift from you? Well, a new payment app called Paytm Canada wants to reward you for getting into the holiday spirit by giving away redeemable points in daily contests running throughout December and January.
During the contest period, anytime you make a bill payment of at least $50, you will automatically be entered into a daily draw to win 50,000 Paytm Points. That’s a $50 value, which works out to one gift for them and one gift for you. That is incentive for even the biggest Scrooges to move everyone from their naughty list to their nice list. Read more…

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.
It’s that time of year again. You’re permitted to huddle up on the couch — roast beast from Whoville in one hand, a moose-shaped mug of eggnog in the other — and watch a whole bunch of movies you saw at this exact time last year.
From The Santa Clause to Home Alone and The Grinch to Jingle All the Way, these movies are the ones you know back to front. You probably routinely quote them out loud, to the detriment of your relationships.
And if it’s not you annually weeping through Love Actually and The Holiday, or demanding someone listen to your pitch on Die Hard as the ultimate holiday movie, that person is definitely someone you know. Read more…

Here’s what 100 mini drones look like flying through the Rockettes holiday show
The Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes has taken place every holiday season in New York City since 1933. But this year the always festive finale will look different — and be way more high-tech.
That’s because Intel is bringing in its lightweight Shooting Star Mini drones — the ones that made appearances at the Olympics and the Super Bowl — for some light-filled, choreographed visions. The final scene is called “Christmas Lights”; it’s all very on theme.
Most notable will be the sheer number of drones: A hundred of them, all synced and moving together to create holiday cheer. The drones hold LED lights that can make 4 billion colorful combinations. Read more…
