Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper sang ‘Shallow’ at the Oscars and gave us all the feels

TwitterFacebook

Look, it’s not like we didn’t know Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper were gonna sing “Shallow” at the Oscars.

But still. We were not prepared for All! The! Feels!

The A Star Is Born co-stars climbed the steps hand-in-hand, arriving at a stripped-down stage that had a grand piano, a couple of mic stands, and not much else.

Cooper got things started, and if he was a tiny bit off musically, he was definitely in the right place emotionally. Gaga joined in with vocals and piano, and the effect was exactly as magical – and exactly as romantic – as you’d expect. Read more…

Chris Evans being charming is the Oscar moment of our swoon-y dreams

TwitterFacebook

Chris Evans has always been the best Chris [Editor’s note: debatable], but his stellar behavior at the 91st Academy Awards further cements his status as the goodest boy named Christopher in Hollywood.

Evans’ fortuitous seat in the front row of the show and directly next to Best Supporting Actress winner Regina King made it easy for him to physically support her as she ascended the stairs to accept her award.

Moment later, he presented the award for Best Production Design to Hannah Beachler, who won for designing Black Panther. When her name was called, he fist-pumped in true Bostonian fashion to celebrate her win.  Read more…

Lady Gaga wore a massive diamond necklace and everyone thinks it looks very familiar

TwitterFacebook

A star was most definitely born on the Oscars red carpet, and it was hanging from Lady Gaga’s neck.

Gaga attended the 91st Academy Awards looking stunning, as expected, but after marveling over her hair, makeup, black gown, and gloves, no one could stop talking about the stunning, gigantic jewels around her neck.

The 128 karat Tiffany’s yellow diamond necklace that Lady Gaga is wearing is worth $30 MILLION and was last worn by none other than Audrey Hepburn at her ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’ press tour in 1961#Oscars pic.twitter.com/aNmmgGylpe

Your faves Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, and Amy Poehler sang ‘Shallow’ and Lady Gaga loved it

TwitterFacebook

The very first musical performance of Oscars night was from Queen, but the second came from Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey, and Amy Poehler.

The SNL vets belted out a few lines from “Shallow” while gearing up to present the first award of the night, Best Supporting Actress (which Regina King won for If Beale Street Could Talk). And Lady Gaga herself seems to have been a fan, laughing along in the audience.

In their time on stage, the trio also skewered this year’s tumultuous lead-up to the Oscars, the president’s longed-for border wall, and the infamous Fyre Festival sandwiches – while cracking cheesy puns about the nominees. (“My Spanx are moving into my Spider-Verse,” joked Poehler.) Read more…

Anne Hathaway pokes fun at her terrible Oscars gig with perfect Instagram caption

The Academy Award-winning actress hosted with James Franco in 2011, and was widely panned by critics and audiences for it.

However, self-aware queen Hathaway posted the perfect Oscars throwback, poking fun at her own hosting gig ahead of Sunday’s ceremony.

“No matter what happens with today’s show, just remember, it’s already been worse,” she captioned her Instagram post. “Happy Oscars!”

Risk it all for A Star is Born, baby!

For the first time in American history, betting on the grandest night in cinema will be 100% legal — at least for gamblers placing their wagers in New Jersey.

In an unprecedented move, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement is allowing sportsbooks to accept wagers on the Academy Awards.

For Jersey residents and those willing to travel for the big night, that means viewings in licensed gambling establishments with up-to-the-minute odds updates. For those voting online, it means rigorous geolocation checks to assure no one’s attempting to skirt around the law. Read more…

Never mind, the Oscars will air all the categories live after all

TwitterFacebook

Just days after unveiling a plan to hand out certain Oscars during commercial breaks, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has decided it will air every Oscars category live after all.

“The Academy has heard the feedback from its membership regarding the Oscar presentation of four awards – Cinematography, Film Editing, Live Action Short, and Makeup and Hairstyling,” said the organization in a statement. “All Academy Awards will be presented without edits, in our traditional format.”

This news comes after a meeting between Academy leadership, including president John Bailey, and “top cinematographers,” reports Variety. Read more…
