‘Solo’ star Donald Glover correctly says: ‘How can you not be pansexual in space?’

Leave it to Lando Calrissian himself to set the record straight on his sexuality.
Donald Glover, the actor behind Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story, was asked in an interview with Sirius XM Tuesday if he knew about Calrissian’s pansexuality, a fa…

Star Wars needs to rebrand its ‘A Star Wars Story’ spin-offs

We’re two movies deep into the Star Wars spin-offs and it appears that the folks in charge of branding over there are firmly set on the subtitle A Star Wars Story.
This is not good.
A Star Wars Story is a bad subtitle. It’s long. It’s janky. You can’…

Donald Glover opens up about the touching full-circle ‘Star Wars’ moment he shared with his son

TwitterFacebook

Solo: A Star Wars Story is about to hit theaters, and its stars — Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian) and Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo) — have been making the rounds promoting the film.

The two stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show in an episode that aired May 21 to share a bit about the audition process, meeting with their character’s predecessors, and how full-circle this moment really is for them.

In addition to sharing how many times each had to audition (7 for Glover, 6 for Ehrenreich), Glover opened up about how his first toy as a child was the Calrissian action figure — and how now his son plays with the action figure of Glover and understands that it’s his dad.  Read more…

Who’s who in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’

TwitterFacebook

No major spoilers here, but this story does discuss plot points previously revealed in other marketing materials, stories, and interviews. Proceed at your own risk.

From a certain point of view, Solo is an old Star Wars story: It’s set way in the past, before Han ever even met Luke and Leia.

But for our purposes, it’s a new one. By that, we mean it tells a tale we’ve never heard before, set on planets we’ve never seen, involving people we’ve never met and unfamiliar versions of people we have.

Which means even if you’re a longtime Star Wars fan, you might find yourself watching the Solo trailers and wondering who the hell all these folks are. So here’s a handy rundown of who’s who in Solo – new and old characters alike. Read more…

Here’s the text Paul Bettany sent Ron Howard begging to be in ‘Solo’

TwitterFacebook

Acting is a competitive field. If you really want that big part, sometimes you have to be a bit pushy to get your name in the ring.

Or, if you’re Paul Bettany, you could just send Ron Howard a hilariously desperate text.

“Have you ever spent long winter evenings wondering why you’re not in the Star Wars franchise?” texted Bettany. “I have.”

Howard’s response — “LOL I’ll get back to you” — is the best bit.

To be fair to Bettany, it worked. Read more…

Here we go again: Lando is pansexual, claims ‘Solo’ writer

TwitterFacebook

As Lando Calrissian himself says, everything you’ve heard about him is true.

Including, apparently, the rumor that he’s pansexual.

Solo: A Star Wars Story co-writer Jonathan Kasdan has confirmed as much, giving an emphatic “yes” when directly posed the question by HuffPost

But there’s a catch. In all-too-typical Hollywood fashion, Lando’s sexuality isn’t really explored in the movie itself – as acknowledged by Kasdan himself in the same interview.

“I mean, I would have loved to have gotten a more explicitly LGBT character into this movie,” he said.  Read more…

‘Solo’ is something new in Star Wars. Old-school fans will love it.

TwitterFacebook

If you were to stray into an in-progress screening of Solo without knowing its title, you’d be able to identify it as a Star Wars film pretty much immediately.

We’re never more than a moment away from the familiar look and feel of the franchise: blaster fire, screaming ships, delightful droids, exotic and spartan planets, the sonic warble of alien creatures, the ham-radio chatter of Imperial stormtroopers.

That said, Solo manages to stretch the possibilities of Star Wars in interesting new directions, just  as The Last Jedi did last December. But unlike that movie, which was forced to make difficult choices in resolving its predecessor’s cliffhangers, Solo has plenty of room to maneuver — and should surprise and delight even the old-school fans who enter the theater heavy with expectations.  Read more…

New Han Solo meets original Han Solo when Harrison Ford crashes interview

TwitterFacebook

The original Han Solo gets to crash whatever interview he wants.

Alden Ehrenreich, the titular star of Solo: A Star Wars Story, was in the middle of an interview with Entertainment Tonight when a door opened behind Ehrenreich and in walked the OG Solo himself, Harrison Ford, along with Solo director Ron Howard.

“You’re shitting me,” Ehrenreich said after he saw Ford, in a clip ET shared on Twitter.

The only thing better than one Han Solo is two. ❤️ Harrison Ford dropped by @CameronMathison‘s interview and surprised #SoloAStarWarsStory star Alden Ehrenreich! The full interview will be on https://t.co/issuFApt4j tomorrow. 🙌 pic.twitter.com/5hy4GoZrhg
