People are dropping their phones for this ‘Stranger Things’ meme

Buckle up, everyone. This meme is taking us to the Upside Down. 

In the second season of Stranger Things, our favorite gang of Demagorgon fighters gets another glimpse of the mysterious Upside Down. Even though the new season premiered months ago, people have spent the past week creating elaborate mirror selfie videos paired with the Stranger Things theme song.

The trend involves recording mirror selfies by dropping your phone in slow motion and editing it with a backwards version of another slow motion phone drop.  Read more…

The Upside Down is coming to Universal Studios this fall and we’re so ready to be terrified

Eleven, Will, and poor dearly departed Barb would probably advise against it – but if you’ve ever wanted to visit the Upside Down, you’ll get your chance this fall.

Universal Studios has announced a Stranger Things-themed maze for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights events. Designed in collaboration with Netflix and the executive producers of Stranger Things, the maze is modeled after the first season of the series.

That means those brave enough to enter will get to experience recreations of the Hawkins National Laboratory, the Byers home (Christmas lights and all), and, of course, the Upside Down, all while being stalked by a Demogorgon.  Read more…

Stranger Things is heading back into production this month, and details on Season 3 are already giving us nostalgia for Season 2.

At PaleyFest in Los Angeles on March 25, executive producer Shawn Levy told The Hollywood Reporter that the most important storyline would thankfully make a return:

“Dad Steve magic” is one way of putting it. But perhaps the real magic is the daddiness of the whole season — at least if you ask David Harbour, the man behind Sheriff Hopper.’

Throwing a party that people don’t show up to is pretty upsetting — but based on the response the little boy below received after his story was shared on the internet, it won’t be happening two years in a row.

On Sunday, Ayen Alambat tweeted photos from her little brother Aaron’s birthday party. 

“My brother invited 8 of his classmates for his Stranger Things themed bday party & none of their punk selves showed up,” she wrote.

Until now, most of the #MeToo and Time’s Up stories have fallen into the category of sexual harassment, assault, rape, or pay inequity. But the latest allegations have broadened the scope to call out other abuses of power that make sets such hostile work environments for women.

Matt and Ross Duffer, creators and showrunners of  Stranger Things, have been accused of verbally abusing multiple women on the Netflix set — allegedly to the point where some were even driven to quit. Stranger Things 3 is on its way, and now we know exactly how many episodes we’re waiting on. Netflix confirmed that Season 3 will have eight episodes as the shadow monster (most likely) zeroes in on Hawkins. 

The news was first reported by TVLine. 

Stranger Things 2 premiered at the end of Oct. 2017, a little over a year after Season 1’s August 2016 debut. While Season 3 doesn’t yet have a premiere date – fingers crossed it’s before the end of the year and they don’t pull a Game of Thrones – having an episode count does help us manage expectations of how much story we’ll get and when.   Read more…

Picking up a chai latte from Starbucks on Burrard & Smithe in Vancouver, Purser found a little surprise on her cup.
