Stephen Colbert brutally mocks Trump’s failed attempt to get his wall

TwitterFacebook

In the wake of a government shutdown that’s said to have cost the U.S. economy billions of dollars, Stephen Colbert is taking some time to reflect on what Donald Trump has actually achieved. It doesn’t sound like he’s too impressed, either.

“Ah yes, the negotiator-in-chief,” says Colbert in the clip above, before launching into his best Trump impression. “My opening offer: Give me wall. In return you offer nothing? I accept. A pleasure arting the deal with you.

Colbert goes on to describe Trump’s frustration at the Democrats sticking together during the recent stalemate — including when he apparently asked, during a meeting, “Why are they always so loyal?” Read more…

Sarah Paulson discusses which ‘Glass’ actor has the biggest ‘delusion of their grandeur’ IRL

TwitterFacebook

Acting in a big budget Hollywood movie means you’re likely to be surrounded by some pretty big personalities.

Just ask Sarah Paulson. Not only is she a very big character herself, but she just starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass alongside Bruce Willison, Samuel L. Jackson and James McAvoy.

And the question Stephen Colbert wants to know in The Late Show clip above, is: Who has the biggest delusion of their own grandeur in real life?

“You know, it’s Hollywood,” says Paulson. “Everybody’s gotta kinda like… it’s par for the course.

“I will say Sam Jackson — it’s not a delusion of grandeur — he’s just the coolest cat around. And he takes about 10 minutes to walk, like, two feet. Read more…

M. Night Shyamalan got a brutal reaction from his dad when said he was going to film school

TwitterFacebook

M. Night Shyamalan’s dad is so proud of his son these days that he apparently pays for everything — even gum — with a credit card — just so people will see his last name.

But it wasn’t always that way. Back when a young M. Night Shyamalan first broke the news of his showbiz career plans to his family — who are all doctors — his father wasn’t exactly impressed.

“My dad was watching a hockey game and I said, ‘Dad I applied to NYU film school, I got in as a scholarship, and I’m gonna go’, and he didn’t even look at me,” Shyamalan tells Stephen Colbert in the clip above. “He just kept watching the game.” Read more…

Stephen Colbert was pretty bored with Trump’s presidential address

TwitterFacebook

Given Donald Trump’s presidential address happened after Stephen Colbert had taped his show on Tuesday, The Late Show host was only able to respond the next day.

It’s still as searing an analysis as ever, with Colbert saying the 19-day shutdown has lasted longer than his new year’s resolution, and that the address was boring.

“Sorry, the national crisis put me to sleep. Why was he so calm if there’s a crisis?” Colbert joked, before suggesting that the president had been tranquillised.

Colbert then turned to the topic of the border wall itself, and what material it would be built with — Trump said it will be a steel barrier rather than a concrete wall. Read more…

Steve Carell had a wonderfully festive trick when he used to work as a mailman

TwitterFacebook

Steve Carell always puts 100% into his roles — whether the role in question is comedy, drama, or being a mailman.

Yep: back in his pre-showbiz days, Carell delivered the mail for a spell in Littleton, Massachusetts. And he had a special trick that he used to play during the festive season.

“I would write a little handwritten note and say, ‘Your letter to Santa Claus has been picked up by special reindeer courier’,” explains Carell. “And I’d leave it in the mailbox.”

It may have meant he took a whole lot longer to deliver all the mail, but that is pretty adorable. Read more…
