Everything coming to Prime Video in March 2019

TwitterFacebook

Winter is slowly, but surely coming to a close. Still, the binge rages on! Here’s what Amazon Prime Video is cooking up for your March streaming needs.

As per usual, new television options are a little bit lacking on the Prime Video front — save a new Kate Beckinsale series that looks pretty bananas, more on that later — so you’ll probably have better luck sticking with their movie offerings.

If you’re looking to round out your 2019 Oscars knowledge, check out Paweł Pawlikowski’s stunning Cold War, a Polish love story nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

‘Venom’ just passed ‘Wonder Woman’ at the global box office

TwitterFacebook

As if to prove there’s no justice in the real world, Venom is on track to overpower two previous superhero box office titans — and possibly become one of the most profitable movies of its ilk.

After reaching $822 million in total global earnings over the weekend, Venom has eclipsed both Wonder Woman‘s $821 million and Spider-Man‘s $821 million.

This might be cause for confusion and concern among superhero movie fans, since Venom received quite, uh, “mixed reviews” from critics and audiences alike.

Yet it’s still projected to become one of the most profitable big budget superhero movies yet after accounting for both its production budget and its gross earnings, according to Forbes. Read more…

What happens in the end credits of ‘Venom’?

TwitterFacebook

Does Venom have an end credits scene? I don’t know, does a turd in the wind roll down a street?

Actually, scratch that. Bad example. Nobody knows what a turd in the wind does because that’s not a thing, Venom. Seriously, where did you get the idea that it was? Was it Eddie? Is that so-called journalist out there giving you fake news about what is or is not a commonly accepted phrase in the English language? I think he’s pranking you, dude. You guys might need to have a talk about that.

Ahem. Anyway, where were we?

Oh, yes – of course Venom has an end-credits scene. Two of them, in fact. Here’s what you need to know about them. Read more…

Riz Ahmed once almost fist bumped the Queen

TwitterFacebook

Riz Ahmed may be a total badass on screen in the upcoming Marvel movie Venom.

But when the 35-year-old British actor met the Queen — aka Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth realms — he was just as confused and awkward about it as we all would be.

Ahmed was a guest of James Corden’s The Late Late Show were he described a very awkward handshake he had with the Queen.  Read more…

‘Venom’ is hilarious, and I’m not entirely sure if it’s on purpose

TwitterFacebook

It’s Villain Week here at Mashable. In honor of the release of Venom, we’re celebrating all our favorite evildoers from film and TV all week long. Spooky, scary!

The first act of Venom suggests we’re in for one of the worst films of 2018. Not in a fun way, mind you, but in that dull, dispiriting way where the lack of effort starts to feel like disrespect.

Then Venom gets his man and a movie that initially seemed just-plain-bad becomes so-bad-it’s-good. Or maybe it’s just plain good. It’s been a full day since I’ve seen it, and honestly, I’m still not sure. Either way, I laughed a lot.

“Venom” is better than it has any right to be

What happens when a cast of Oscar contenders like Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed and Michelle Williams are turned loose to chew the scenery of a (seemingly wryly self-aware) B movie? Audiences get “Venom”, the latest bid from Sony Pictures to create its own superhero mega-franchise now that storylines for the studio’s web-slinging centerpiece have merged […]

Tom Hardy’s ‘Venom’ has a lot to say in his new trailer

The latest trailer for Sony’s Venom delivers the most extensive look yet at the superpowered title character played by Tom Hardy. The film’s first teaser focused on Hardy and the other human cast members, with no footage of the actual alien “symbiote” (basically, it’s a sentient costume with a bad attitude). When we actually got to […]

Check out a perfect look at Tom Hardy as disturbing ‘Venom’

Oscar-nominated actors tend to go for transformation — but never quite like the one Tom Hardy went through to become an alien creature that’s all teeth, eyes, and goopy skin.

In an exclusive Entertainment Weekly first look at Sony’s upcoming Venom, we see the former Batman villain transform into the Spider-Man equivalent of Jekyll and Hyde. And if he’s being honest, Hardy knows that the repulsive, Xenomorph-on-crack appearance is part of what attracted him to the role.

“As far as Marvel characters, I have to say for me, Venom looks the coolest,” he told EW. “That sounds a bit shallow! But I appreciate that he has a kind of brazen swagger and a zero foxtrot attitude.” Read more…

The first full trailer for ‘Venom’ is here

TwitterFacebook

Sony has released the first trailer for Venom, starring Tom Hardy as an antihero who gets tangled up with a mysterious and powerful symbiote.

If the character sounds kind of familiar, you may recall that he’s frequently associated with Spider-Man – Topher Grace played a version of him in 2007’s Spider-Man 3

But this Venom exists separately from Spider-Man. The current Spidey exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with all the Avengers, while Venom is off doing his own thing in a different continuity.

And it’s probably just as well. Between all the corporate intrigue and action and whatever else is going on in this trailer, Venom looks like he’s got plenty on his plate already. Read more…
