Departing Georgia lawmaker knocked for his racist antics on Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘Who Is America?’

TwitterFacebook

Everybody, I’d like to you meet Jason Spencer.

Jason is a soon-to-be-former state representative in Georgia — he lost the election primary in May to a newcomer, too bad so sad — who’s enjoying some last-minute infamy in office as the butt of a Sacha Baron Cohen joke. You see, it’s still poor form in the USA (for now) to publicly perpetuate racist stereotypes and scream the N-word repeatedly.

That’s exactly what Jason did when he was duped into appearing on camera with a heavily disguised Cohen, as part of an anti-terrorism training video. I’m not going to repeat the litany of ever-escalating gaffes he commits; you can see it for yourself. Read more…

That ‘waterboarding kit’ Dick Cheney signed on Sacha Baron Cohen’s show? Looks like it’s on eBay.

TwitterFacebook

In one of the most WTF moments from Sacha Baron Cohen’s second episode of Who Is America?, former vice president Dick Cheney signed what was referred to as a “waterboarding kit.”

And now, it looks like it’s sitting on eBay.

Listed as the “original water board kit” signed by Cheney, the product is currently sitting at a bid of $1,700 — with 50 bids in total at the time of writing.

Who Is America? officially premiered last week on Showtime in the U.S. and on streaming service Stan in Australia. As Sarah Palin found out the hard way, Cohen has been filming interviews with U.S. politicians and lobbyists for a year in disguise, creating a host of new characters for the show. Read more…

Sacha Baron Cohen got a bunch of GOP congressmen to say arming toddlers is a good idea

TwitterFacebook

Am I surprised that a bunch of Republican congressman endorsed arming toddlers? No. But, as usual, I wish I had higher expectations.

Sacha Baron Cohen’s new show, Who Is America?, began streaming Saturday night before its official premiere on Sunday. As you probably already know thanks to Sarah Palin’s extensive complaining, it’s classic Cohen fare — the comedian has been interviewing U.S. politicians and lobbyists while wearing disguises for the past year.

In a portion of the first episode, Cohen assumes the persona of Erran Morrad, an “Israeli anti-terrorism expert” pushing a program called Kinderguardians, which would train children as young as three how to use firearms.  Read more…

Roy Moore ALSO duped by Sacha Baron Cohen. What is wrong with people?

TwitterFacebook

Sacha Baron Cohen really fooled some big names in right-wing politics while shooting his new show.

Far-right politician Roy Moore was apparently duped into participating in Cohen’s upcoming series Who Is America?, where the comedian went undercover for a year to interview unwitting politicians. While we don’t know if Moore will actually be featured in the show, the disgraced former judge confirmed he was interviewed by Cohen in a statement obtained by NBC News.
