Stephen Colbert slams Al Franken for latest sexual misconduct allegation

Stephen Colbert slammed Al Franken again on Wednesday night after the Minnesota senator denied charges of sexual misconduct.

“It seems like every day a new man is being accused of sexual misconduct. But not today. Today it’s the same man,” said Colbert in his opening monologue on The Late Show.

Franken has been accused by a former Democratic congressional aide of trying to forcibly kiss her in 2006, after a taping of his radio show. According to POLITICO, the aide says Franken “pursued her after her boss had left the studio … The former staffer said she ducked to avoid Franken’s lips. As she hastily left the room, she said, Franken told her: ‘It’s my right as an entertainer.'” Read more…

Watch Billy Bush give his first interview post-Access Hollywood tape to Stephen Colbert

TwitterFacebook

In his first interview since the Access Hollywood tapes, Billy Bush finally gets candid.

It’s been over a year since the tape of Donald Trump bragging about sexual assault leaked, and the former television host was implicated in the backlash. On Monday, he voiced his concerns about Trump’s denial of the tape on air, just hours after he penned a New York Times op-ed regarding the situation.

“Last week for some reason came out with ‘that’s not my voice on the tape’—you can’t do that. I was there, you were there, that’s your voice on the tape,” Bush said, explaining that he had read the account of women accusing the president of sexual assault. “Twenty women don’t get together and say, ‘You know what would be really fun? Let’s take down a powerful guy together.’ No they don’t,” he continued. “Stop playing around with people’s lives.”  Read more…

Stephen Colbert grills Ben Affleck on sexual misconduct allegations

TwitterFacebook

Ben Affleck appeared on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote the film Justice League, where Colbert directly asked Affleck about the aftermath of Harvey Weinstein – and about a few allegations against Affleck himself.

“What I was accused of by a woman was of touching her breast while giving her a hug,” Affleck said, referring to Hilarie Burton’s tweets from October. “I don’t remember it, but I absolutely apologized for it. I certainly don’t think she’s lying or making it up.”

“It’s just the kind of thing we have to, as men, I think, as we become more aware of this, be really, really mindful of our behavior and hold ourselves accountable and say, ‘If I was ever part of the problem, I want to change,” Affleck added. “I want to be part of the solution.’ And to not shy away from these awkward or strange encounters we might have had where we’re sort of navigating and not knowing.” Read more…

Stephen Colbert dissects Roy Moore’s sexual assault allegations with brutal wit

The Roy Moore sexual assault scandal reached new heights of creepiness after The New Yorker reported that the Republican candidate for Senate in Alabama was banned from a shopping mall in the 1980s, when he was an assistant district attorney.

Moore, who is now under fire from fellow Republicans and House Speaker Paul Ryan, was the main target of Stephen Colbert’s Late Show monologue. And boy, did he deliver.

“Five women have accused Moore of sexual misconduct against them when they were teens, and now we’ve learned that in the ’80s, when he was an assistant district attorney, Moore was banned from an Alabama shopping mall for bothering teenage girls,” said Colbert.  Read more…

In one sentence Joe Biden gives a brutal assessment of Trump’s presidency

TwitterFacebook

There is no doubt that Joe Biden is a national treasure who infuses grace and insight into whatever subject he touches on.

At The Late Show, the former vice president gave a tough, clear-eyed assessment of when the Trump presidency started to go completely off the rails.

“There are certain things that, when they occur, you just can’t remain silent, and Charlottesville, for me, was a moment where I thought silence would be complicity,” he said, referring to Trump’s delayed, controversial response to the neo-Nazi violence in Virginia that left one dead and 19 injured.

“To not have an outright, flat condemnation of that…I thought the silence was deafening,” he added.  Read more…
