Teen Bitcoin bro thinks that if you don’t become a millionaire, you messed up

TwitterFacebook

Not a Bitcoin millionaire? You goofed!

This, at least, is the opinion of Erik Finman, a 19-year-old Bitcoin investor fresh out of childhood and fresh into being pompous about cryptocurrency.

According to a profile of Finman from Business Insider, the teen bet his parents that if he became a millionaire by age 18, he wouldn’t have to attend college. And — thanks to investment money from his grandmother — he invested in Bitcoin and pulled it off.

Well, technically, he and his grandmother pulled it off. But who cares about the details? Read more…

Calm down, everybody. Very, very, very few teens are trying to eat Tide Pods.

TwitterFacebook

You’d be forgiven for thinking that every person under the age of 25 now lives off a diet of Tide Pods.

If you’ve gone online recently, you’ve heard of the Tide Pods meme, the challenge, and the widespread outrage the little detergent capsules have caused. Though the craze may have roots in a 2015 Onion piece, a lot of people over the past few months agree that the poisonous and colorful little packets look pretty appetizing.

Some people have actually bitten into them.

FriendO, a quiz app with NSFW questions, goes viral with teens

TwitterFacebook

There’s a new “quiz app” going viral with teens that’s a lot more NSFW than tbh.

Called FriendO, the app lets users compete in “quizzes” to find out who their “real friends” are — and teens are going crazy for it.

Sort of like a non-anonymous version of tbh, which Facebook acquired last month, FriendO has been climbing up the App Store charts over the last month.

The app has a number of “categories” that friends can quiz each other on, such as what their favorite foods and sports are, or other personality traits. Users take turns answering questions about each other, and they’re then ranked in an in-app leaderboard, which shows their scores.  Read more…

John Legend pens tribute to English teacher who shaped his career

TwitterFacebook

John Legend has written about his own high school education in a powerful op-ed about empowering teachers for HuffPost

In the post—entitled “By Empowering Teachers, We Can Level The Playing Field For Every Student”—the singer urged greater support for teachers to “ensure that future generations” will have access to better quality education and, as a result, far greater opportunities in life.

“I still remember standing at the podium during my high school graduation, looking out over the crowd,” wrote Legend. He said that in that moment, it struck him that the number of students graduating was half what it had been at freshman orientation. “Nearly fifty percent of my peers had given up on their education and dropped out,” he noted.  Read more…
