Trump slams ‘stupid question’ from female reporter, calls April Ryan a ‘loser’

TwitterFacebook

Donald Trump is not backing down from personal attacks on reporters.

On Friday morning, before leaving on a trip to France to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, Trump stopped to speak to members of the press. He quickly lashed out at CNN’s Abby Phillip when she asked if the new interim Attorney General would try to rein in Robert Mueller’s investigation. Trump responded in a vicious tone, “What a stupid question. What a stupid question. But I watch you a lot and you ask a lot of stupid questions.”

In fact, Phillip’s question was not stupid — it was incredibly relevant as Matt Whitaker, who just took over as interim AG following the forced resignation of Jeff Sessions, has been highly critical of the Mueller investigationRead more…

Trump has a corny painting of himself and former presidents hanging in the White House

TwitterFacebook

Art knows no bounds. That’s the only possible explanation for the reality-bending fantasy painting of President Donald Trump that now hangs in the White House, right?

The Andy Thomas painting, titled “The Republican Club,” features Trump and several former Republican presidents, including Abraham Lincoln, Richard Nixon, and Teddy Roosevelt, chatting around a table.

About that Omarosa book: This is what complicity looks like

TwitterFacebook

Everyone is the hero of their own story — but in telling that tale, people often reveal much more about themselves than they realize. That is true of autobiographies in general, and of Unhinged by Omarosa Manigault Newman more than most.

The tell-all book, released Tuesday by the famous former reality show star and communications staffer, has plenty of beans to spill on the dysfunction and casual racism of Donald Trump and his White House.

It’s also the story of how the kind of person who seems to think in soundbites could help elect and participate in such an administration without ever really knowing what she was doing. And how, even after reflecting for a year, that person thinks she can avoid doing much soul-searching about her role.  Read more…

CNN reporter walks out of press briefing after heated exchange with Sarah Huckabee Sanders

TwitterFacebook

The Trump administration hasn’t been on the best of terms with the media lately, to put it lightly.

On Thursday, CNN’s Jim Acosta walked out of a White House press briefing after Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to confirm that the press corps is not the “enemy of the people,” as Trump has repeatedly called them in the past.

“…You read off a laundry list of your concerns about the press and things you feel like are misreported,” Acosta told Sanders. “You did not say that you feel like the press is not the enemy of the people. I think it would be a good thing if you were to say, right here, at the briefing, that the press … are not the enemy of the people.” Read more…
